Usually when one flavor dominates that is a death sentance for beer, but Three Floyds pulls this one off. Hopefully I can get my hands on this once more before the season is over, and if Alpha King has any more cousins then bring em on. BOLTZ7555 (1121), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Rich mahogany body with a thin tan head, the flavor was top notch, but not as good as expected. Although the traditional "cup of joe" and whipped-cream topped cocoa flavors were present, I didn’t notice the "stange American hops" as noted in the description. When you see a brew rated as high as this one (especially after acquiring a beer as amazing as Dreadnaught days earlier), you assume this will also be a beer that will differentiate itself from its competition. I just didn’t find that with this one. Try it if you have an opportunity...just wanted more. blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

Bottle about three years old. Even though porters are not my favorite this beer kicked butt. Dark in color with a big head. Taste was super intense roasted malt. Nice touch of chocolate, it lacked on the hops but I think that was due to its age. Medium texture, overall very enjoyable! Thanks again Bruce for sharing! ditmier (1122), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Black pour with light brown head. Aroma is hoppy, sweet malt, and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, sweetness, little bitter. The hops and the malt give this brew a great taste. They meld together well to give the complexbeer a great taste. As most good/great beers, as it warms in your hands, the taste magnifys for the best. Oddefellowe (67), Tampa, Florida, USA
