The color was very dark, almost black. This beer was very rich and thick, but still smooth. It had a sweet fruity taste to it, with a coffee aftertaste. Not as much chocolate or coffee flavors as the other proters ive had.

On tap at Three Floyds. Black with thin brown head. Aroma is roasty with C-hops. Taste is creamy and roasty with chocolate and sharp C-hops. Bitter finish. Iíd call this more of a Black IPA. Delicious.

Bottle from Rebekah as part of an awesome FFF box. Thanks again! Pours nearly black with a super creamy two finger mocha colored head. Big hop aroma that I wasn't expecting. Pine galore, some lemon, some roast, chocolate, and big sweet sugar. Big chocolate and hop mixture in flavor. Lots of bitterness and pine, some sweet chocolate, then a bit of buttering roasted malts. Medium bodied, pretty smooth, with medium plus carbonation. Very drinkable. Dry finish. I was not expecting this at all, and for some reason was thinking this would be a big sweet chocolate dessert. I like it though, and it is a big hoppy porter bordering on black IPA. Glad I finally got my hands on this one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from RobertDale. Thanks Bob!! Aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, piney and citrus hops. Black in the glass with an average off-white head that mostly diminished and left great lace. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied and watery with an average carbonation. Overall a really nice brew thatís quite drinkable.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap, black pour with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee with subtle cocoa notes and lots of hops. Flavor is a bit of a mess, the roasted character of this beer doesnít mingle very well with the hop bill. Itís like this beer canít decide what it wants to be. Drinkable but I wouldnít go back for seconds.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml Bottle from our local grocery store. Appearance is dark brown color with lots of creamy beige head. Aroma is heavy with roasted malts, vanilla and spice. Taste is similar but a bit more complex with roasted grains, dark chocolate dominant but strong notes of pine hops, allspice, and sugar. Palate is full-bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a semi-dry finish. A unique contribution to the Christmas ale pantheon.
