Pours a dark amber-red color with a small off white head, that settles out. Aroma is spicy, bread, yeast, malt, faint citrus note. Flavor is sweet, alcohol, malt, brown sugar. Palate is full bodied, medium carbonation, oily, hot, sweet finish. Huge beer.

Thanks to thebeersommelier for sharing this one at RBWG. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an off-white head. Nose is sweet fruit, some oxidation, some yeast, candi sugar, tart cherries, and fruit. Flavor follows the nose with some sweet malt, candi sugar, tart cherries, fruit, and oxidation. Medium in body and very complex.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrSilverworm (2716) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 29, 2013
Sample from a bottle at DLD 2013. 2007 vintage. Clear red orange color. Minimal head. Lots of particles in the body. Big sweet nose, dark fruit, belgian sugar. Really big body. Lightly viscous, but no sticky finish. Light carbonation. Some dark fruit, belgian candy sugar. You can tell this beer is huge, but it doesn’t burn. Just a little hot. Good sweet taste. Light bitter. Big fry finish. Some spice. Glad to try it.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 smoosh (529) - New Albany, Indiana, USA - MAR 24, 2013
A small pop from the bottle cap. Almost no head whatsoever. An opaque medium brown in color. Flavor is not quite what I expected. Big malt sweetness and not much else. Not crazy about this one.

651mL shared by TheBeerSommelier at RBWG JAX Grand Tasting. Thank you Matt! Rating #5300 for me. Pours a full haze, deep orange. Bubbles, no head formation. Nose is oxidized, minty, moving to straight up aged Engish barleywine like JW Lees or Thomas Hardy’s. Toffee, wood, caramelized orange peel, cognac, Grand Marnier, red sweet cherries. Taste is papery, older, showing signs of oxidation and age. There is still a minty and hoppy barleywine character present with sweet cherry fruit juice. Very fun to try this rarity. Semi still holding up, but you should drink it if you own one.

Deep copper pour with light thread of lace around the top. Aroma is dark brown sugar and dried fruit. Huge dried fruit, brown sugar, and a nice abv warmth on the back end. Full bodied and smooth. thanks Matt

Bomber to taster at the RBWG Winter Gathering (thanks thebeersommelier). Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent amberish orange with thin off-white lacing. Smells good; candied dark fruit. Tastes like it smells, but slightly less pronounced. Good on the palate. This is good beer.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 dimenhetfield (2354) - , Florida, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Bottle shared at a recent tasting. So I’ve been chasing this white whale for some time now and was finally able to score a bottle, but was a little hesitant since I’ve read that it may be past it’s prime. Past it’s prime.... Not in my eyes. The booze has definitely mellowed out but the banana flavor is still everywhere. Caramel and malt are still pretty strong as well and everything seemed pretty well balanced in my eyes.
