Bottle during RBWG. Pours a clear gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is dark fruits and toffee. Medium mouth nice caramel and toffee, brown sugar, alcohol present but not overpowering, very nice.

A gift bomber from a number of years ago, brought out of the cellar to share, and poured to snifters, showing a hazed, orangey amber color, with a very modest layer of off white froth that reduced quickly to a ring & film, and lightly laced with some leggy coating on the glass. The nose was lightly spiced, sweet & fruity, with mostly tropical notes of mango & papaya. The taste was candy sweet, thick & syrupy, and quite full in body. The alcohol seemed to advance with age, showing good potency & warmth. A surprising, liqueur-like treat.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Ed. Didnít think Iíd see this one. Muddy orange-copper body with no head, nada; still & quiet. Very fruity aroma with dates, grapes, prunes, raisins, all coated with saccharine sweetness. Caramel, Belgian Candi sugar, banana esters, & a faint hint of floral perfume round out the back side. A touch of alcohol. Taste is similarly sweet... VERY sweet. Quite booze heavy, too, at 13% ABV. More Candi sugar & molasses coated dark fruits. A light brown sugar note collides with a sticky caramel & toffee background. Mid-palate to finish, the Belgian aspect of the beer makes itself known; yeast grows on the palate. Belgian spices & yeast, clove, earthiness... Finishes strong & boozy with a touch of tart apple skins & spice. Sticky, lingering mouth feel. Heavy. Very heavy. So glad I got to try this.. Not exactly in my strike zone but actually not bad, especially considering the age.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate raisin, caramel, apple, and a hint of chocolate. It pours a transparent dark Ber with a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate toffee, raisin, and some grape. The finish has caramel, brown sugar, faint apple, and a touch of oxidation. Itís medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel.

Dark orange caramel color. Short lived white head. Good lacing and big ABV legs. Nose is banana, clove, dried cherries, grand mariner, and candied sugar. ABV is very there but more muted with age. Taste is big, very sticky. Cross between a barleywine and strong pale ale. Dried cherries and stone fruit, banana, clove and sugar. Very warming off the bat. Big burn in the finish, otherwise quite smooth. Has held up well.

Great. This was my first FFF and I'm a fan. Had this at the Beer Geeks of Northwest Arkansas.

Thanks to thebeersommelier for sharing this one at RBWG. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an off-white head. Nose is sweet fruit, some oxidation, some yeast, candi sugar, tart cherries, and fruit. Flavor follows the nose with some sweet malt, candi sugar, tart cherries, fruit, and oxidation. Medium in body and very complex.

Sample from a bottle at DLD 2013. 2007 vintage. Clear red orange color. Minimal head. Lots of particles in the body. Big sweet nose, dark fruit, belgian sugar. Really big body. Lightly viscous, but no sticky finish. Light carbonation. Some dark fruit, belgian candy sugar. You can tell this beer is huge, but it doesnít burn. Just a little hot. Good sweet taste. Light bitter. Big fry finish. Some spice. Glad to try it.

A small pop from the bottle cap. Almost no head whatsoever. An opaque medium brown in color. Flavor is not quite what I expected. Big malt sweetness and not much else. Not crazy about this one.
