ONly very slightly disappointed yet still fantastic. I think I would have enjoyed a bit more "smokey" quality....i think I admired the label too much and got psyched up about the dragon and dragon=fire and fire=smoke and smoke=awesome porter and so on. smooth, simple, nice balance. love it.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pantanap (3153) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2011
Ragnarok. On tap at 3floyds... Pours are darker than cola hue and
topped with a light quickly dissipating off-white to beige head...
Cola dark fruit aroma with a touch of roast and chocolate that comes
through late. A touch hidden at first but soon develops there
afterwards... Flavors are an improvement with a honey roasted cocoa
nuttiness. Thin to medium bodied with a semi-bitterness towards the
finish.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose is grapefruit, pine, tobacco, spruce and dark roast. Is this supposed to be a porter? Coating medium body with soft carb ending resiny. Taste is espresso, honey, orange peel and grapefruit. Finishes with lemon tea and quinine. I would call this a black IPA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 adnielsen (6181) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 16, 2011
Bottle @ home, courtesy of TheAlum. Thanks again! Deep brown black appearance with a dark brown head. Dark, roasty, charred malty nose. Creamy, quite piney hoppy, roasty, chocolate malty flavor. Piney, hoppy, roasty malty aftertaste. Nice brew that I wish I had regular access to.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Strykzone (3813) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Bomber bought at the brewpub. Half the 22 oz. glass is tan foam and it slowly fades leaving thick lacing. The beer is quite dark with some red, but only a little. An assertive nose that has roasted notes and bold hops. The flavor is even more aggressive than the aroma. Dark chocolate begins with those big hops. They are floral and fruity with some fairly big bitterness. The boldness settles in quickly but it remains very flavorful. Complex fruit, light ash, and molasses. Alcohol is not really tasted but brings warming. This is exceptionally well hopped for a porter but those hops add so much here.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 3, 2011
On tap. Pours an almost opaque black with a small, rough beige head. Very fresh citrusy nose which completely overpowers the hard roast malt. Only medium-bodied with a lightly roasted character, sweetish, again completely dominated by the fresh aroma hops leaving a dry bitterness. The roastiness comes somewhat late. Very drinkable - but really a Black IPA rather than an Imperial Porter. 260511
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 TheRealMGD (540) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Tap @ Three Floyds. Clear, dark red-brown pour with a short tan head leaving moderate lace. Pine and coffee nose. Medium, dry, finely-carbonated body. Baking chocolate, honey, resin, spruce, licorice and toffee, with a fantastic full and smooth mouth feel. Finish is sweet and chocolatey, wish it were drier as with the start. ABV is well-hidden.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 thewolf (9859) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 1, 2011
Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Cph.
Deep black colour with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma is roasted, light liqourice, mild chocolate, some pepper, mildly vinious. Low carbonation, first feels a bit watery for 8 % ABV, then turns fine dry and light creamy. Flavour is elegant, to the sweet side, roasted, milky, chocolate, light liqourice. Good dry malty finish with piney hops. Delicious and very drinkable.
