3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from kan. Slightly wet & thin light tan head covers the slightly brown-looking liquid. Very hop forward nose, slightly spicy hops with a pine and citrus twist. Underneath, dark malt fumes give rise to roasted malt, smoke, and bitter chocolate. Smells like a black ipa...an imperial black ipa. I hope not though. Has a tangy, bitter intro to flavors..lots of a bittering hops, some acidic natured malt aspects, licorice, and bittermelon. Shit that’s just a weird beer...now I feel that alcohol hit too...way too much abrasiveness for the style in my opinion, which ironically is the opposite of Amon Amarth’s issues. This is gonna be a difficult bottle to finish, but ima try. \m/

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pour is black with a massive dark brown head. Aroma is fruity hops, chocolate milkshake, tobacco, lightly smokey. Flavor is rich cocoa, more fruity hops, a trace of smoke. Palate is rich, clean, oily, creamy. Excellent. Not my favorite style but I really enjoyed this.

651mL thanks to tastybeer. The pour is a dark brown to near black with a towering coffee brown head. Nice retention and large webby lace. Nose out of the bottle is fruity melons, kumquat, tropical fruits, with savory meat and cocoa like a very serious Black IPA. Taste is richer, bitter, fruity, melon heavy, spicy, mild pepper, lots of body. Palate is rich, clean, full. Feels like a spot on heavy Black IPA. Very nice- more like a spicier and melon heavy version of Stone Sublimely Self Righteous. Very good stuff.

ONly very slightly disappointed yet still fantastic. I think I would have enjoyed a bit more "smokey" quality....i think I admired the label too much and got psyched up about the dragon and dragon=fire and fire=smoke and smoke=awesome porter and so on. smooth, simple, nice balance. love it.

Ragnarok. On tap at 3floyds... Pours are darker than cola hue and
topped with a light quickly dissipating off-white to beige head...
Cola dark fruit aroma with a touch of roast and chocolate that comes
through late. A touch hidden at first but soon develops there
afterwards... Flavors are an improvement with a honey roasted cocoa
nuttiness. Thin to medium bodied with a semi-bitterness towards the

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose is grapefruit, pine, tobacco, spruce and dark roast. Is this supposed to be a porter? Coating medium body with soft carb ending resiny. Taste is espresso, honey, orange peel and grapefruit. Finishes with lemon tea and quinine. I would call this a black IPA.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of TheAlum. Thanks again! Deep brown black appearance with a dark brown head. Dark, roasty, charred malty nose. Creamy, quite piney hoppy, roasty, chocolate malty flavor. Piney, hoppy, roasty malty aftertaste. Nice brew that I wish I had regular access to.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber bought at the brewpub. Half the 22 oz. glass is tan foam and it slowly fades leaving thick lacing. The beer is quite dark with some red, but only a little. An assertive nose that has roasted notes and bold hops. The flavor is even more aggressive than the aroma. Dark chocolate begins with those big hops. They are floral and fruity with some fairly big bitterness. The boldness settles in quickly but it remains very flavorful. Complex fruit, light ash, and molasses. Alcohol is not really tasted but brings warming. This is exceptionally well hopped for a porter but those hops add so much here.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. Pours an almost opaque black with a small, rough beige head. Very fresh citrusy nose which completely overpowers the hard roast malt. Only medium-bodied with a lightly roasted character, sweetish, again completely dominated by the fresh aroma hops leaving a dry bitterness. The roastiness comes somewhat late. Very drinkable - but really a Black IPA rather than an Imperial Porter. 260511
