Thanks BVC! Stiff and sturdy resiny hops, bright gold. Rich leafy intense hop character. Simply yummy.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
22, capped and waxed (IIRC). Thanks, BVC! Pours a crystal clear medium gold with a dense, creamy tannish head. Webby, foamy sheets of lace. Big mango and peach nose. Creamy medium carb, and plenty of it. Doughy caramel malts, peach, mango on the mid-palate. Mild finish. Nice earthy, leafy alternative to the citrus versus pine DIPA dichotomy. Hides the booze well, borderline refreshing, which is amazing given the big body and the big booze payload.

3.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pour is crystal clear copper color with medium cream colored head. Aroma is bursting with citrus hops and light malt. Marshmallow aroma also peeks though. Flavor is far sweeter than I expected. Citrus hops present but not as prominent as in aroma. Flavor has a bit of an off flavor somewhat akin to nutra-sweet. It kind of lingers for a bit during the middle of the beer. Luckily the finish is more citrus hop flavor with a touch of the lactose flavor coming through. I think the off flavor is unbalanced lactose coming through, it kind of goes away as I continue to drink the beer, thank goodness for that. Ends up being pretty darn good.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle… Pours clear and golden with a small, creamy, white head. Smells an awful lot like Dreadnaught, but with a whisper of lactic acid - not lactose. Full-bodied and a touch motor-oily with tingly carbonation. All the hop flavor of Dreadnaught is here, but not nearly the hop bitterness or bite. Lots of toffee sweetness, but not enough to balance this bad boy out, much less tilt it toward the sweet side. Basically, a dumbed down version of Dreadnaught, but not necessarily for the worse. Certainly, more acrid in the aroma, flavor and finish than its big brother. Winds up very dry. Ballsy brew! Many thanks to tjthresh for shipping this bottle to me!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
220z bottle. Pours deep orage with an off-white head. Aroma is of juicy hops, pine, caramel, and malt. Taste is of very juicy hops, bubblegum. citrus, pine, and sugar. Lots of grapefruit in this one. Biscuity malt backbone. Has a very sweet, alomost sugary, lingering hop bite. The whole beer comes off as rather buttery. Big alcohol presence, adds a strong bitter alcohol feel to each sip. Mouthfeel is very buttery. I really liked this one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Brixie’s, Brookfield, IL. Poured to a 10 oz. footed ale glass a chill hazy, deep gold/amber, with an off white head and clingy lacing. The aroma was some sweetness, light fruit, grapefruit, and orange zest. The flavor was smooth malt, a mellow version of the aroma notes, and a sharp but appropriate hop bitterness. Medium+ body with a dry/bitter finish. Very quaffable for a double.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with a creamy off white head that laces down the glass. Pine, citrus, fresh caramel sweetness and malts that are kind of off and seem aged, i.e. old. Creamy malt flavors that are syruppy sweet and have subtle woody burnt earthy presence, with a big grassy, citrus hop bitterness. A little too sweet though. The hops attempt to counteract the sweetness, but its hard to do. This one is getting into barleywine territory and might be good with two years on it. Tough to drink a lot of this one though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber (2009) shared w/ Mike Weaver (thanks for that); pours a translucent orange-amber w/ a steady half-inch cream head; aroma is complex: citrussy, candyfloss, characteristic FFF grapefruit notes and caramel; flavor draws sweetness from crystal malts it would seem, w/ pine and more grapefruit. Couldn’t really sense the lactose influence, but that might have created the toffee stickiness, making this beer chewier than the Dreadnaught; full bodied and more bitter than the Dreadnaught; well balanced and yet another triumph from the folks in Munster.
