This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! 100 IBU 11.0%ABV (used to be 9.5%)

Pours orange, hazy. Nose is WOW! Peaches, apricot, apple, oranges, citrus, sticky pine, sweet toffee and caramel, bubblegum and honey. HUGE mouth feel! Lactose is amazing in IIPA. Flavor is super sweet, boozey, fruit, dank hoppy greatness! Amazing!

Sampled at the ’09 RBPTE, courtesy of Beerman6686. Nice peach and pineapple hoppy aroma, heavy grass and citrus wiht some average malty character and some toffee. Dark amber cloudy body with spare off-white head. Medium thick body with medium carbonation. Huge hop aroma carries through into the taste, with lots of bitter character and some heavy sweetness to counteract. This is a tasty one.

BPW #8 Sampled from a 22oz bottle courtesy of Andy. Appearance is a hazy brown toned orange with a medium off-white head. Nose and flavors are spiked with honey and mellow stone fruits, mainly peach and some apricots. The lactose doesn’t come through as much as I was expecting but you do get a bit of a milk creaminess in the dry mouth. A nice variant on an IPA.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy typically carbonated orange colored body. The aroma was hoppy and caramel malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish caramel hop aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of hops and delightful caramel. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2009 Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #6 of 90. Picked up a few bottles at Wise Guys in Merrillville. Pours hazy bright orange. Nose is mostly fresh citrus hops. The taste has a load of dry hops and a tiny sweet lactose component that melds perfectly. Juicy and yummy. Real good.

A gift from my boss, how cool is that? Pours a semi hazey orange colour with a big fluffhead. Super citrus, honey and floral notes on the nose. Taste is pleasent, chewy and full with a smooth piney finish. Well balanced in every way. Sweet with just the right amount of bitterness to keep it steady.

Bottle acquired via trade with stubone...THANKS ALLEN!!! Brilliant murky tangerine pour that produced a billowy clean white head that left sticky lacing. Aroma is of candied oranges, honey-baked biscuits, caramel, and evergreen. Flavor is quite sweet for the style, with tons of malt accompanying citrus rind, lemongrass, and pine. The lactose showed up for me most in the texture...very milky, creamy, coating. Could just be my imagination. Liked it.

Bomber with an awesome label! Poured near-clear milky orange, sporting a short cap of white head. The aroma did indeed pick up milky sugars underneath the traditional IIPA ingredients.. citrus, pepper, an fragrant floral hoppage over a rather non-deScript caramel and bready base.. I don’t really know what to make of the lactose, but it was there. The flavor opened with tangy citrus zest and lactic sourness, with sweeter caramel rolling onto the middle.. primarily citrus bitterness (and a high level of it) surrounded.. some spicy floral too, especially on the back.. finished slightly sour and very bitter. Medium-plus bodied with spotty carbonation on the palate (felt thick and rolling at times and empty at others).. bitterness was large and in charge, taking away some balance. This was decent but not great.

Pours hazy copper. Aroma not powerful despite being iipa. Maybe this is because of the lactose? Anyhow it is kind of unusual for the style but still very satisfying for hop lovers.

Draft: Pours a dark amber-gold with a large white head and lacing. Nose is big on citrus and floral hops with some sweet notes present. Thick, sticky body...flavors are some light bread dough, some pine, citrus and a bit of a back end sweetness. Good brew
