4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 brewskis (87) - Saint John, Indiana, USA - DEC 1, 2012Have had plenty of times, but have never reviewed it. Pours a hazy sunset orange color with a finger length head that goes away quickly. All their double ipas look the same, but that’s not a bad thing. Nice carbonation coming off the glass. Smells of resinous pine, fresh cut grass, apricot, little sweetness, breadiness quality to it, little orange. Very dry. Interesting smell. Taste starts with a smack in the face of abrasive bitterness. Get some apricot, orange, tons of grapefruit, pine, some grass in the front. Then the breadiness from the malts kick in in the middle and somewhat cut the bitterness. The sweetness from the dextrose sugar also comes in and somewhat balances it. Then on the back end, just loads of more abrasive bitterness, but accompanied with flavors of grapefruit, apricot, mango, pine, some grass, some floral notes as well. The sweetness lingers through the back end. The carbonation does wonders for this beer to at least try to clean the palate from the resinous hop qualities. Very dry finish. No detection of the 9.5% alcohol content, which has never been a problem for them. High medium body with a creamy and oily texture from the hop oils. If you are a hop head, you will love this beer. Very intense, yet complex.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SlackerMads (531) - DENMARK - MAY 23, 2013
Tap. Unclear orange with a large fluffy off white head. Heavy sweet hoppy aroma with pine, caramel, pineapple, peach, light citrus notes slowly coming through. Taste is medium/heavy sweet and bitter. Close to full body, chewy creamy texture, soft carbonation. Long dry and bitter finish. Good.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbruner (1129) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Bottle thanks to trade with joromiller! Pours a slightly hazy golden orange from the bomber with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave great lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, tropical fruit and a hint of pine from hops, with a nice sweet caramel malt back. Taste follows, less of the fruit, more if the pine and malt. Clean, not crazy bitter and and no hint of the booze. Very solid.

Draft at Kuma’s Corner and map room in Chicago. Orange pour with an abundance of grapefruity, orange piney hops. Lots of orange zest and pith. Fuller flavored, very bitter but not overly so. Great mouthfeel, great beer
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ansermadide (1200) - Kyle, Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Semi-opaque, light-orange in color with a bright white head, this baby has a superb nose. Perfectly balanced and very homogeneous, stiff of hop aroma, but you can’t pull out any separate malt or real hop distinction. Great recipe! The palate is great, too. Alcohol, caramel malts dominate, but are decorated nicely with candy-like, spicy hops. I love it. Love it. Easy, hoppy, but actually pretty sessionable, and you can’t really tell that it’s packed with 100 IBUs. Yummalicious!

Semi-cloudy yellowish-gold with a huge amount of hops in the aroma accompanied by grapefruit, pine needles, and light rubber. Super, bold in your face bitterness. Not as sweet as most 2IPA’s. Extremely enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 writerljberg (228) - Oregon, USA - MAY 11, 2013
On tap at Apex for Gigantic Beer Week
A: Golden color with a semi-opaque look. Fluffy white head.
N: Pineapple, mango, pine, and caramel. Pretty solid nose for hops but it’s not terribly complex either.
T: Fairly sweet once again. Lots of dried pineapple and some pine, but there’s no mid-level to this. Biscuit and a slight bitterness. Better balance to this, but it’s missing a certain...special..something.
M: Dry and medium-heavy. Sticks to the palate without destroying it.
O: A good beer I’d drink again, but it’s not outstanding in its style.
