Tap at FFF. Opaque black body. Massive thick rusty beige head. A very chocolate forward stout, very sweet, with a cocoa touch. I enjoyed this out of the bottle, but on tap it seems a hint more luscious. Real chewy, bold dessert stout. Hard not to love this one, World Class oatmeal stout.

Bottle from Jason Larsen. Thin body...too thin for my liking, but nice notes of chocolate, roasted malt and sweet malts, Dry finish, but not overly. It was just ok for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bomber served in a FFF pint glass. The beer pours a very dark brown, almost black with a very tan head that holds at a solid inch for a while and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is roasted barley, toasted oats, coffee with cream, and powdered hot chocolate mix...the one with the little marshmallows. Flavor is big oat and barley flavors up front. Lots of coffee and cocoa as well. There is a bit of a creamy flavor that sneaks in, but the baking chocolate/raw coffee bean flavor comes right back to linger. The beer does a great job of delivering quite a few complex flavors that coat the inside of your mouth for quite some time. Overall this was an interesting and well executed oatmeal stout. I would look for it again and the bottle artwork is sick!

Draft. Black body with a frothy tan head. Aroma of smoke, char, roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Sweet chocolate and roast taste with some notes of char and vanilla. Soft on the palate, but not flabby. More complexity than the standard oatmeal stout.

This stout had some strong flavors. The malts, the caramel, the chocolate, the roast, the ting of spice. But then it’s smooth and light and relatively low alcohol. Not so sure.
