UPDATED: MAY 16, 2014 Baker’s chocolate, deep roastyness, alcohol on the back end, warming as it descends. Decent, but lacks depth and complexity.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours very dark brown with medium beige head. The aroma is strong chocolate, roast, caramel, oak, and smoke. Medium mouthfeel with rich chocolate, sweet roast, caramel, light booze. Very impressive.

Black with floated. Nice light brown head. Very chocolatey. Caramel, Some dark fruity. Hops mostly dissipated. Roasty. Slick. Sticky. Lighter full body. Sweet, but not too sweet. Alcohol nicely hidden. Opulent.. Really good.

Sampled @ Hunahpu Day 2014. Wow, I thought I would never get to try this beer. Pours black with thin brown head. Aromas of dark roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Roasted malt and dark fruit flavors with chocolate and coffee and some booziness. Full body with minimal carbonation.

HMOG 2014. 2011 ed. 14%. No ish. Really this was much smoother than ABV would suggest. However, there was a bit of that tobacco/soy thing going on. Still big roasted, cocoa, dark chocolate abounds. Just a big ass beer that perhaps came off a bit abrasive. Still very good.

HMOG 2014. Light soy sauce but more roasty malt and bitter sweet chocolate flavors. Soy comes through more in the flavor than the aroma. Cocoa and a milk chocolate texture working in the background. Pretty well done.

Comes out of the bottle a warm coffee brown with a fairly thick tan head. Coffee and caramel dominate the tempting but not too sweet aroma. Sweet caramel and coffee are the main components of the excellently stouty flavor, well supported by the roast malt undertone. This blend is somewhat but not excessively sweet. Texture is very viscous and very fizzy, leaving a finish of coffee and sweet roast malt.

Bottle. Completely black color, brown head, delicate lacing. Aroma of burnt espresso, figs, dates, cocoa. Taste has licorice, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark winter fruit. Nice body. Delicious.

Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a deep thick viscous black color with a finger of dark khaki foam. The nose is sweet chocolate, plum, licorice and some roasted malt. The palate is slick and silky with a sweet heavy chocolate background, lots of dark fruit and berry that adds almost tartness to the beer. Not sure if this has just lost its balance with age or not but this beer was a bit of a mess and quite a let down.

22oz bottle pours dark oily black with a small thin head. Nose is boozy dark fruits, earthy wet coffee grounds, baker’s cocoa. Taste is rich old burnt coffee and some fruity plum, raisin, a touch of sweet fruit acidity adds a strange dimension. Finish is boozy bitter dark chocolate, plum, some sublte fruity tartness. A bit weird, maybe past it’s prime.
