Dark black pour with tan head... Aroma of ethanol, dark chocolate, roasted malts... Flavor is dark chocolate, prunes, dark fruits, coffee... Espresso and bitter chocolate on finish, almost peppery finish... Amazing ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle, big thanks to Greg for sharing! Gorgeous rich black velvet pour, dense brown head. Nose and flavor are really impressive considering the age this one has on it; coffee from the Mikkeller offering still shines through, but then the aging prowess of the other 3 components comes to the fore. The sweetness of the Dark Lord holds, with chocolate ganache and vanilla, but it’s tempered by the roasty bitterness of Darkness and a drop of dark fruit from the de Struise brew on the finish. Complex and luscious. Yeah, I’d drink it again.

’14 B-day tasting party. From an old trade. Thick, deep black-darker and more viscous than the ’11 Dark Lord I had side-by-side. Going off memory of the other beers, felt like this showcased mostly Darkness. Noticeably less sweet than the Dark Lord. Burnt malts, dark cocoa on the nose, some booze. Slightly astringent, bit ashy, but still good dark chocolate flavors and prune as well. All in tasting preferred the DL slightly.

Had this one in storage for awhile. Pours a dark, oily black with minimal, tan head. Complex aromas--some dark fruit (plum? prune?), chocolate, coffee, more than a little alcohol/booziness. Flavors include all of those, along with nuttiness and some leather. Quite noticeable alcohol taste. Smooth on the palate, but with a bitter finish. Glad I got to try one of these.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2014 Baker’s chocolate, deep roastyness, alcohol on the back end, warming as it descends. Decent, but lacks depth and complexity.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours very dark brown with medium beige head. The aroma is strong chocolate, roast, caramel, oak, and smoke. Medium mouthfeel with rich chocolate, sweet roast, caramel, light booze. Very impressive.

Black with floated. Nice light brown head. Very chocolatey. Caramel, Some dark fruity. Hops mostly dissipated. Roasty. Slick. Sticky. Lighter full body. Sweet, but not too sweet. Alcohol nicely hidden. Opulent.. Really good.

Sampled @ Hunahpu Day 2014. Wow, I thought I would never get to try this beer. Pours black with thin brown head. Aromas of dark roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Roasted malt and dark fruit flavors with chocolate and coffee and some booziness. Full body with minimal carbonation.

HMOG 2014. 2011 ed. 14%. No ish. Really this was much smoother than ABV would suggest. However, there was a bit of that tobacco/soy thing going on. Still big roasted, cocoa, dark chocolate abounds. Just a big ass beer that perhaps came off a bit abrasive. Still very good.

HMOG 2014. Light soy sauce but more roasty malt and bitter sweet chocolate flavors. Soy comes through more in the flavor than the aroma. Cocoa and a milk chocolate texture working in the background. Pretty well done.
