4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2013 Bottle picked up at Dark Lord Day 2012. Cracked this puppy open for New Years Eve 2012, to celebrate two groups of friends engagements. Midnight black, motor oil, very oily on the top tan/ khaki head. All lacing just drops to the bottom. Smells super sweet, caramel, vanilla, beautiful roasted malts. Tastes like coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, toffee. So incredibly complex. I may actually like this better than fresh Darklord. Fantastic dessert stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a deep thick viscous black color with a finger of dark khaki foam. The nose is sweet chocolate, plum, licorice and some roasted malt. The palate is slick and silky with a sweet heavy chocolate background, lots of dark fruit and berry that adds almost tartness to the beer. Not sure if this has just lost its balance with age or not but this beer was a bit of a mess and quite a let down.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle pours dark oily black with a small thin head. Nose is boozy dark fruits, earthy wet coffee grounds, baker’s cocoa. Taste is rich old burnt coffee and some fruity plum, raisin, a touch of sweet fruit acidity adds a strange dimension. Finish is boozy bitter dark chocolate, plum, some sublte fruity tartness. A bit weird, maybe past it’s prime.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by tom10101 at his "2K tasting", thanks and congrats on the 2000th rating!! Pours a really dark brown and is topped by a really light foam that leaves light lacing. Nose is of smoke and booze, roasted. Taste is sweet and big but still really drinkable with roasted flavors accompanied by some slight green peppers. Body is full, mouthfeel smooth and creamy. This was interesting but not much more than "Good" really.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22 oz). From drewbeerme, thanks! Very dark brown with reddish reflects, a medium mostly diminishing beige head and little lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, smoked notes, citrus, boozy notes, chocolate and some dark fruits. Taste is moderately sweet with roasted malt/coffee, light vegetal presence, alcohol, smoke, tobacco and light dark fruits. Full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel. Aroma and taste are both quite complex, but the balance is average at best. I think that the 4 beers used in the blend are better than the blend. Components from each of them are recognizable, but it doesn’t get together in a good way. Cloying. Decent RIS.

Sample from bottle at Nieuwjaarsborrel 2014, probably the best beer for on the road I’ve ever had. Thanks for sharing Kermis! Pours pitch black with a small tanned head. Aroma is quite sweet with molasses, licorice, chocolate, alcohol and some roasted malts. Taste is sweet with licorice, molasses and some roasted malts and chocolate. Medium to full body, soft carbo. Nice stuff, bit a bit too sweet for my liking.
