COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Aged in oak barrels.

alpha klaus is normally awesome, but barrel aging it makes it even better. same nice porter flavor with a slightly nutmeg flavor with a nice bourbon finish. sweet ending to a great beer. had a draft pour at dryhop.

Early 2012 batch. 112/423. Frankly, this is kinda crap. Astringent barrel. Ditch weed.

All heavy bourbon smell. Full bodied with very low carbonation. Taste is bourbon, dark chocolate, and booze. The alcohol brings a bit of heat with it to the palate.

Legitimately awful, I don’t know how nobody else has mentioned how this beer completely sucks. Tasted like Dr. Pepper with sour warheads dropped into it, nothing like an imperial porter, body too thin, flavors flat as a board, just completely one-note and the only hint that this is barrel aged is a slightly metallic twinge. Yuck.

Pretty decent beer. Pours a dark brown color. Maybe a little black. It was dark. Not much of a smell and there was a little bit of head. You get the hops on the scent more than anything. Taste is more like a pale ale than a porter because they use so many hops. Very hoppy. You get chocolate up front and you can get the porter on the very back. It was definitely different from most porters. Overall pretty decent.

Bottle in Vermont. Pours thick brownish black with creamy beige head. Aromas and flavor of liquor barrel, plums, spice, vanilla bean, fig and light hops. Body was medium to heavy, very light carbonation, just ok. It was boozey at times and also a little too thick.

Draft to half-pint glass at Dark Lord Day. Looks good; a dark cola with thin beige lacing. Smells good too; chocolate malt and hops with a nice oak presence. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Good stuff!

On tap at DLD 2013. Dark brown color. Minimal tan head. Bigger body. Kind of a chewier taste, light carbonation. More dry finish. Tastes much bigger than standard Alpha Klaus. Wood, little vanilla, little spice, bigger liquor taste. Milk chocolate, much less pronounced hop, but still mildly hoppy. More stout-like malt characteristics, little roast, but not quite the body of a stout, so the barrel is a little more pronounced, but it’s nice. Bitter taste, light sweet, good long complex aftertaste. Much boozier than regular Alpha Klaus, but no burn or bite, nice warm buzz. Good, interesting stuff.

Pours port wine color with no head. Lots of bourbon barrel, malt and chocolate notes on the nose and tongue. Thinner than I'd like and bourbon is a little too prominent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 bottle 168/ 4-something. Pours deep deep brown. Head is tan and lasting as a film. bourbon, floral, citrus, spice, vanilla. Bourbon really sends out by itself though. Flavor is hops, bourbon, vanilla and wood. Odd to have a small beer aged on bourbon barrels. Fun to try.
