COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Alpha Klaus is Alpha King’s cousin. A big American X-mas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt and Mexican sugar and of course tons of strange American hops! Cheers.

Aged in oak barrels.

750ml waxed bottle served in a Portsmouth snifter. Bottle shared by Frank (Lurchingbeast) I think? Thanks either way! A: Pours a nice strong black color with dark brown edges. A thin tan head forms on the pour and recedes quickly to a thin ring. Stick sheets of lace are left down the glass. S: Nice bourbon with a little spice with some nice roasty malts and some chocolate with a little oak. T: Nice boozy spice with some light fruity esters poking in there as well. Roasted malts, light oak, smooth chocolate and some nice caramel and vanilla barrel sweetness on the finish. M: Medium bodied with medium to low carbonation and a smooth boozy finish. O: Very impressed with this one. I would really like to try the variants, but the this one had a solid and balanced barrel character. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-16-2012

Bottle, huge thanx to Kermis for sharing this one! Pours a jet black colour with a two finger, tanned head. Aroma is full of bourbon, oak and dark fruits. Flavour is really sweet, missing some roasted notes, but not disturbing at all. The bourbon is really present in the flavour and it has a cloying, thick mouthfeel. One to enjoy for sure!

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours black with a thick beige head with low retention. Aroma is massive oak and bourbon, chocolate, fudge, vanilla, and very subdued roasted notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter. Warming in the finish and oily but lighter than expected mouthfeel. Still fairly full bodied with soft but tingly carbonation. I get the impression that the base beer has been very overpowered by the BA but still very good.

Dark brown bodied and medium creamy tan head. Very rich, creamy flavour. Concentrated fruit, wood, cacao, booze and vanilla. Roasted malts, smooth. Not too thick but still has the flavour. Lively carbonation in the end. Bit too boozy, taste dimmed down by the barred aging I suppose. Not entirely convinced but very happy I tried it. (At Dean’s Birthday Tasting)

66cl bottle courtesy of Kermis and shared :-) thanks Thin tan head. Bourbon aroma. Clear dark pour. Vanilla and bourbon in the aftertaste. The barrel aging is lovely. A great brew!

This poured a darker brown color with a lighter tan head. Aroma was of lots of smooth bourbon notes, good amount of oak and vanilla,a nd light chocolate. Flavor was very very smooth bourbon and chocolate melding together, some dark fruits too. Only complaint is the base beer does not come throguh very much at all, and all the hoppy goodness of regulat Alpha Klaus is missing.

Opaque black color with a tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of spicy rye, vanilla, roasted malts, charred wood, and bourbony alcohol. Taste of roast, vanilla, spicy rye, smoke, pine, tobacco, dark chocolate, and a smooth, creamy finish.

Pours unclear black coffee in color with a small grayish tan head. The aroma brings some boozy oak barrel notes, not quite vanilla, soft sweetness. There are sweet whiskey notes, so smooth, with lighter roastiness and a chocolatey coffee ending. The bitterness is so subtle and works so well.
