As the rockin sounds from ’The Killer’ streamed from the Three Floyds brewpub’s record player, this beer was a three-man mosh between the burbon, the berries, and one happy beer taster.

Tasted on 11/12/11 on draft at the Three Floyds Anniversary party. Pours cloudy dark amber brown with a thin off white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is full of vanilla and coconut oak with some darkly caramelized malt underlying. The flavor is dominated by raspberry puree with the oak flavors present. The body is medium with light carbonation and a long raspberry puree and vanilla oak finish.

Draft at FFF (Nov. 2011). Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has bourbon, caramel, raspberries, vanilla with a hint of wood. The flavor has raspberry puree, bourbon, caramel, vanilla, wood and some booze. Interesting enough.

Tap at the pub. Aroma is caramel, oak, vanilla, slightly sweet, the raspberries give it a sort of raspberry vinaigrette character. Pours a very murky brown, completely opaque, thin head dissipates quickly. Flavor follows the nose - caramel and vanilla, some oak and earthy notes, more tart raspberry vinaigrette. Full body, low-medium carbonation. Interesting, although I’d have to say I prefer regular Bruce over this one.

On tap at 3 Floyds. Murky butt mud brown pour. I am not a huge fan of scottish ales, but this was very well done. Huge bourbon nose. Unlike most scotch ales this did not have that generic cola flavor I dislike, instead there was lots of bourbon, raspberry, toffee, and oak notes. Well done....

On tap: pour is muddy brown, murky, a thin head that vanishes quickly. A little dissapointing honestly; the nose is heavy on the bourbon, chocolate, caramel malt notes.fruity notes of bananas and raspberries by my estimation. The flavor profile is bourbon, raspberry seeds, raspberry puree comes through but feels slightly fake. Some of the base beer is present in the heavy malt side; overall, it was good but I wasn’t a fan of the puree and the carbonation issues

Pours dark with a foamy tan head. Mild caramel aroma and a smooth chocolate flavor. Overall this brew is rather sweet and mild but the bourbon presence is pretty strong and there’s a hint of bitterness in the finish. A rare occasion when a barrel aged beer goes down so smooth. If not for the high alcohol content I’d drink these all night.

Sampled at the Three Floyds brewpub. Murky, reddish brown pour with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, mild raspberries. some notes of vanilla, chocolate, light toffee. The bourbon and raspberry notes work really well together in the nose. Flavor is well rounded with bourbon, raspberry, nice toffee and chocolate. There are oak, tannin, and fruit notes as well. The body is nice, and it feels nice on the palate. Fine carbonation. A nice beer.

Snifter pour bought and consumed at the source... Pours a muddled earthy caramel toffee hue and topped with a thin film of soapy white head... Aroma bourbony vanilla tiffee laidened nose with equal notes of raspberry purée hitting on the backend and on through the finish. Sweet and somewhat medicinal overall but not overwhelmingly so... Flavors are a continuation of the same with semi-sweet and earthy profile with mildy hot vanilla bourbon notes while coinciding with the berry nature of the additive fruit. Not too sweet which is nice, a bit of warmth though. Body is somewhat thin much less so than the base. The raspberries do not dominate but mesh fairly well the barrel aging. Nice enough.

Draft on tap at the brewpub while down to pick up some Zombie Dust (Munster, IN). What a treat. Pours a murky brownish pour, some darker edges show a touch of glow, but murky brown rues the day. A smallish frothy tan head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are a nice dose of Bourbon, wet oak, spirit, vanilla, touches of heat, spice, mellow caramel, toffee, and chocolate. Some more vanilla, light red fruit. Initial is medium bodied, offering some sweet sticky caramel, toffee, and cocoa. Vanilla, biscuits, and raspberries with heat dying out. Vanilla, mellow sweetness, oak, barrel tannins. Some cocoa, caramel, touch of peat. Into the backend it picks up a touch of heat, more raspberry pulp, tannins, and rich red berry. Touches of spice, light spirit into the finish. Really a good mouthfeel, flavors, and plays well on the palate. Raspberry adds a very nice dimension, as the nose is considerably hotter than the beer itself. Pretty nice, very drinkable. Finish is raspberries hanging on with oak, vanilla, caramel, toast, and some more touches of spirit and oak. I enjoyed this, fairly complex, a bit thinned out overall, but tasty.
