Bottle with Vin and Bill. Pours black with little brown head. Nose of chocolate, granny smith apples, roasted malt, vanilla, oak, brandy. Really smooth. The brandy barrel really changes the taste - tastes more like a stout than a porter.

Bottle compliments of Tom with Bill and Tom, pours dark black with thin head, not much lacing. Aromas of pear, granny smith apple skins, roasty malt, dark cocoa. Taste is much of the same with buttery oak, apple brandy booze, and creamy notes. Rich and flavorful. Drinkable for the alchohol pct. Excellent.

Bottle @ Home. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, wood, brandy, light licorice, smoke. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, wood, oak, brand, boozy. Medium body, soft carbonation, light warming alcoholic finish. A little to heavy on the barrel aging / alcohol, otherwise really nice. 070413

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours an opaque deep dark brown with a creamy light brown head. Thick, gluey aroma that overpowers most of the roast. Rich body, subtle roast, very thick wood, very boozy. Clearly has spent too much time on the barrel that overpowers mostly everything else. 060413

750 ml bottle bought from the brewpub (Munster, IN). Pours a rich deep blackish hue, richer deep dark body with brownish ruby edges and bottom showing some glow. A frothy tannish head atop laces small, rings ok. Aromas are oaky, cognac or brandy offers some fruit, vanilla, some thinness, soap, and gentle roast, cocoa, pretzels and toasty biscuits. Soapy, fruity, and a Brandy appeal. Fruity, apple and oak, vanilla, a touch sticky. Initial is brandy, some mellow roast, toast, and biscuits. Vanilla, more brandy, spirit, and toffee. A bit thinner, the apparent Brandy barrel (even though they say itís Bourbon) really offers some richer flavors up front. Middle is a bit toasty, cocoa, some gentle Tootise Roll. A bit roasty as we round the corner, some warmth, richer oak and tannic qualities. Vanilla, oak, touches of apple, gentle spirit. This isnít hot, it is a bit thin, the spirit isnít offensive, but itís there. I was quite surprised by the Brandy element even though they swear itís bourbon. Interesting. Finish is a bit dry, tannic, vanilla, brandy. Some gentle roast and toast. Ok.
