Pours an orangish-tinted brown with a small head. Amazingly strong and good aroma of caramel, chocolate, citrus and mint.

22oz Bottle. Picked this one up at DLD 09. Served slightly chilled, but not ice cold. Taste of citrus and hops, nice sweet aftertaste.

Sweet, malty and very hoppy barley wine, doesn’t make me wax poetic but this is still a good beer. Citrusy hops work, the sweetness is nicely in balance with that but I wouldn’t say this is vinous really at all. The text in the label is pushing it.The pine needle hops are still quite a thing to taste and smell in a barleywine. Well done but not so special for the style.

Bottle, thanks to Bigmmartin. Aroma was strong with grassey, florial hops and malts. Notes of citrus really jump out. The flavor is sweeter than I expected with a crisp alcohol burn. Hops stand out through the whole experience, biting you at the end with a sweet bitterness. Not what I would expect in a barleywine, but, wow, what a great beer! Rerate- had an aged 2008 bottle. THis one was more like a barley wine. Not near as much hop aroma or flavor. It was more dark fruits, carmel malts, and apricot. Night and day difference between a fresh one and an aged one. Still enjoyed it very much.

Pours out amber color with some foam. Taste is hoppy and malty. Sweet fruity notes with nice bitter hops. Low alcohol burn, very drinkable.

this was my surprise of the night at dld 09. Not all that experienced with barley wines but this was one that impressed me immensely. Seemed to me like a imperial ipa (I actually preferred this to the dreadnaught). Big hops in the nose and flavour wise but a fair bit sweeter than expected. EAsy drinking for abv. Complex mix of hops some citrus, espec grapefruit and sugary sweetness. Really good

Bottle (blue wax)Pours a copper in color. Light tan head. No lace. Aroma is strong with many fruits and herbs. I smell alot of Caramel/nut toffee, grapes and apples.A ton of hops. A lot going on in the aroma. The taste is of alcohol, Caramel, toffee grapes, pineapples and a smoke tobacco. You start off tasting the alcohol then it moves into the dark flavors then the fruit flavors. very full and filling beer. The after taste is long and very bitter with high levels of alcohol. Very very good.

Bottle. Medium high fluffy but lasting off-white head. Clear amber body. Lovely and powerful apple pear honey caramel aroma, sweet but good. Flavor also strong and good with a dry, spicy and hoppy caramel honey fruityness. Low carbonation and a long bitter aftertaste. In spite of the high alcohol percentages this is not too much of a good thing. Alcohol can be tasted but mingles in a fine way with the hops bitterness.
