4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A bomber pour a few months back. My favorite barleywine at the time, Sucaba and Angels Share has since taken that top spot. BB is a great sipping barley! What reeled me in sip after sip was the Carmel sweetness! I can’t wait for the ’14 release.

Bottle, thnx to Bytemesis, drank on my birthday! Yay! Red wax, 2012 vintage. Pours a murky brownish beer with a thin off white head on top. Aroma is incredible, alcoholic, herbal, malty, chocolate and faint hoppyness. Flavour is sweet and complex, lots going on. Very fruity, malty and again a touch of chocolate. Alcohol is present, bit certainly not overwhelming in any way. Awesome brew, very well crafted.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2013 22 oz bottle thanks to JStax. 2013 orange wax bottle. Pours a murky brown-orange color with a small foamy that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is a great mix of musty citrus hops with sweet malt. Caramel, toffee, grapefruit, oranges, brown sugar, flowers and toasted malt. Taste is moderately sweet with just a light bitterness. Fairly intense, rich caramel, toffee, and brown sugar is countered with citrus and floral hops. Slightly boozy finish but no burn. Medium to thick body with an oily and syrupy mouthfeel. Very smooth sipper. Very good barley wine.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass; Fall 2011 Ohio bottling with yellow wax. Pours slightly cloudy reddish orange color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, tangerine, toast, toffee, raisin, pear, floral, grass, pine, brown sugar, and floral/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, tangerine, toast, floral, brown sugar, raisin, pear, light pine, grass, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, caramel, toast, brown sugar, pear, raisin, floral, light pine, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; with a nice bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent barleywine style. All around great balance and complexity of malt and hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering as expected.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
'13 vintage bottle. The pour is a nice carmel hue with a nice thin head. The aroma is a solid blend of booze, malt, and carmel notes. The taste is downright perfect for a barleywine. Slight booziness makes this perfect for a winter night after shoveling the snow.

2013 orange wax bottle from Lemonhead, thanks man!. Dark amber/bronze pour with a finger of creamy looking head. Wonderful aroma of carmel, brown sugar, sweet malts, and a touch of booze. Taste lives up the aroma, sweet up front, bits of carmel, plum, not the big american hoppy barely wine i was expecting. Loved it

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
2013 orange wax from Belmont. Pours a darker bronze color with a medium khaki head and thick lacing. Big hoppy aroma with sweet malt in there too. Very well balanced flavor between the sweet caramel malt and the spicy green hops. Just a little hint of burn from the 12ABV. Tasty young but I bet this is awesome as it ages. I think there is still a purple wax in the basement...yay for me.

Bomber from 2008, figured it was finally about time to open this up. Deep mahogany with an off white / biege head that leave a nice ring around the glass. Alcohol has become soft and warming, muted and dimmed hops, semi-burnt caramelized malt, sweetish resin. Full body, bittersweet, complex, warming, touch too sweet on the finish but probably because this is 5+ years old. Would love to get some more.
