08 Bottle from dpjuart, thanks Dave! Poured a clear amber color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a ring. Earthy, hoppy aroma with some caramel malts and pine, and a hint of citrus fruit. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some caramel, brown sugar, and a bit of hoppy spice including some pine and a light citrus fruitiness (orange, tangerine). Finishes moderately bitter. Moderate carbonation, decent bite on the palate.

A Mes rate: bottle at the Harry vs Wolfman fist fight.
Clean dark copper coloured with a thin beige head. Big hoppy aroma with a load of sugary malt that never quite balances if you ask me. Nice enough though. Massive thick malty flavour with a load of sugary toffee. Sweet as hell and probably too much for many but it hit the spot for me. Good bitterness in the finish from the very floral hops. Not the most complex of brews, in fact it’s a rather basic big malt big hops type thing but there is enough fruity character to add some interest. Somehow the alcohol remains very well behaved too. Very good stuff.

2008 bomber purchased from Archer Liquors. I’ve really been wanting to have this one.... it is a really solid American Barley WIne... but I think the price is a bit high at ~$15/bottle. pours a brilliant red with a big white fluffy head. as soon as I popped the top, I could smell the citrus based hops... but once in the glass it was subdued a bit... there is a very nice grapefruit hop aroma along with some caramel malts. This barley wine is extremely well balanced and is a pure pleasure to drink. It has a nice medium body with the hops taking over on top while the sides are fuller and full of malts. A clean yet intense finish filled with bitterness a touch of alcohol and smooth malts. A definite winner.

2007 75cl bottle from Party Pak Liqours (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a dark hazy brown with thin white head. Little glass lacing. Aroma is malt, maple syrup, hops, brown sugar, candy sugar, molasses. Flavor is much of the same with some pine and woody notes, sour malt, and some tanginess. Full body with a sightly sweet and slightly bitter finish.

Pours cloudy amber, with an aroma of sweet brown sugar and alcohol. The hops are the first and last thing I taste. For a barleywine, that is very interesting and unexpected. It balances a sweet and slightly sour sugar, caramel, and malty undertone. Really a fantastic barleywine. Where can I get the other types of Behemoth?

Yellow wax: 2007 bottle. Pours a murky reddish-brown. Tiny off-white head. Aroma is bourbon, figs, brown sugar, candy sugar, dark fruit, some hops, and lots of ethers. Flavor is spice, dark fruit, cinnamon, wood, earth, bite, and pepper. Finish is spicey with a wood, cinnamon, whiskey, and dark fruit. Lacey glass afterwards; along with the flavor of lemon, lime, rosemary, and gummy sweetness. Lots of flavor crammed in one beer that revels itself slowly and surely. Like drinking a suckerpunch, if you’re not into barleywines.

An excellent production. Amazing smoothness with great hop balance. The alcohol is extremely well hidden. This lives up to the hype and I would recommend it to anyone who can get ahold of it.

Bottle at the Angry Fist of Santa tasting at Chris o’s. Thanks Harry. Hazey reddish amber with thin beige head. Aroma of lovely grapefruit hop. Really nice, bit of musty malt as well, really lovely hop, a bit minty. Not as good as something like old crustacean, bit musty and oxidised. Bit too sweet. 3.2/5 Re-rate Bottle at LCRBM 5 at Kulminator. Hazy copper no head. Quite nice good big US hops typical US barley wine, but done well.
