Commercial Description:
Huge sweet body, big flavors and high alcohol levels, this beer is best enjoyed by a raging fire. Complex caramel sweetness is well balanced by generous hopping, delivering an intense, smooth drinking experience. Intense fruity caramel malts, citrus hops, and alcohol notes waft up to tickle your senses.

Courtesy mcbackus. 2007 Yellow Wax. Pours a cloudy, glowing orange-amber color. A wispy tan film with a bubbly edge leaves minimal, spotty lacing behind. The nose is rich and full, showing dark caramel, nougat, and toffee notes, along with big vanilla and floral, orange hops. The flavor is just as bold, yet still very warm and inviting. Toffee, melted caramel, and vanilla are sweet and luxurious, while huge citrus hops balance out the big malts quite well. The body is very nearly full and smooth, with just a touch of prickly alcoholic heat on the way down. Overall, a fantastic, well-balanced, bold, American style barley wine.....just how I like them. Great beer.

2005 release shared with Duane and illini08. Poured light brown with small head. Great combination of caramel and sugary malts with hops. The alcohol came through near the end of the drink, but otherwise a well balanced barley wine. Lower the price and I’d get it more often.

Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle. Pours a chocolate brown with a minimal head. Aroma is honey brown sugar and hops. Taste is sweet honey, caramel, malt, and lots of hops. Drank it at room temp and it was delicious.

Nimrod shared a bottle of this with myself and Duane. Thanks! Pink wax bottle. Mahogany colored pour with a small head. Low carbonation. Aroma was sugary sweet malts - caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Citrus hops and some booze as well. Flavor matched the aroma profile. Very balanced, smooth, complex and easy to drink. Alcohol started to show through more as it warmed. Stellar bw.

Invisible alcohol with the thickness of maple syrup, the beer pours rust with a razor thin cotton head. The aroma is predominantly brown sugar, caramel, and honey. Flavor is incredibly balanced and possesses both molasses and citus; perfect harmony. Amazing.

Courtesy of Mcbackus. Pours a cloudy brown with no head. Aroma is mostly caramel with little bubble gum aroma. Tastes of caramel with a little funk. Some floral taste, cotton candy. Finishes syrupy with some peppery taste on the back end. Thanks Matt.

2007 Bottle, courtesy of drewbeerme. Pours an orangish-tinted brown with a small head. Amazingly strong and good aroma of caramel, chocolate, citrus and mint. Nice balance of hops and malt in the taste. Medium body. ’Tis most excellent!
