Bottle share. Aroma is sweet, with alcohol coming across on the nose. Big and chewy, extremely sweet. (from notes)

2013 vintage Golden Amber / red Nose is loaded with Tobacco and super spicy peppercorn. Very bitter beer….like this was once a hop bomb and just faded and very intensely chewy. A lot of very biscuity and loaded with tobacco and cloves. Too intense actually in sweetness, caramel and tons of spice.

22 oz. bottle that is one year old. Hazy Amber color with decent level of carbonation. Lace down the side of the glass. Nose is Crystal malts, toffee, orange spice and tobacco leaves. Flavor is much the same with plenty of bitterness. Tobacco leaves mixed with toffee and caramel. Level of bitterness is real high. I guess it should sit a bit longer. Not buying into the hype on this one.

Thanks to lurchingbeast for this one: AS AN EXTRA!! White wax: 2011 A: Pours a whiskey orange with a three finger head which resonates for quite some time. The head is burnt cream color of thick, fine viscosity. Lacing is excellent. S: The smell of hops burst toward me upon cracking this beer even before pouring. Pine, resin, grapefruit, caramel malts. Pretty standard combo, but well presented. T: Sweet, alcoholic, sweet, alcoholic. The citrus of the hops comes through after a bit, but nonetheless, the alcohol is not well addressed in this beer. M: Slick and medium bodied with low-medium carbonation. The beer leaves the mouth slick for a moment, then dry for the finish. D: The beer is okay. The alcohol is poorly concealed. I’m disappointed. Too sweet for a fresh Barleywine. I can see why many enjoy the beer (presuming those who like this also find Hopslam and TwoHearted, Pliny to be the best of the best out there - sweet). Can’t say it’s for me though. Serving type: bottle 02-25-2011

Bottle thanks to JBPortland! Pours a caramel brown color with a bit of gaseous eggshell bubbles. The nose is caramel popcorn, booze and a bit of herbal medicinal weirdness. The palate follows the nose with round sweet booze, toasted caramel and a stale hop bitterness that rolls into a bit of a weird medicinal artificiality late palate into the finish. Some boozy heat lingers.

Bomber came from Adam. Big thanks! White wax which I think is a 2011, poured on 12/14/13. Pours a orange brown, a bit murky, with a small yellowish brown head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, orange peel, some more fruits, figs. Flavor is big time malts, toffee, caramel, lots of fig, some orange peel, still some semblance of hops with a little dankness, and more big malty notes. Lots of flavor, and very much on the sweet side. Mouthfeel is chewy but with plenty of carbonation despite the age. This is good stuff, but I don't think it lives up to its name for me unless it is better fresh.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle via trade with the madbeerbaron. Thanks Ben! 2012 vintage. Pours a muddy brown with a thin tan head. A year old and the hops are still coming through in the nose. Plenty of caramel and dried fruit to go with. Velvety smooth on the tongue with a bit of sweetness up front. Lots of dark caramel, malt, and light bread notes. A hint of fruit and pine on the back end. Lasting finish. A pleasure to drink.

2012 vintage from Justin, thanks a lot! Pours dark orange with a white head. Aroma is mostly sweet and caramel malty. Faint hops. Taste is sweet, caramel malty with some faint hops, herbs and alcohol heat at the end. Dry mouth feel, low carbonation. Short bitter after taste.
Quite a let down, nothing really distinct in neither aroma or taste. This is perhaps best when fresh.

2013 Vintage. Bomber into snifter. A: Reddish/Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head, Decent Lacing S: Piney, Bready, Mildly Citrus T: Piney, Grainy Malts, Bready, Mildly Citrus M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter Overall, more of a Imperial Red Ale (when its fresh) than a Barleywine.
