Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 29, 2007 From a 22 -oz bottle pours a mahogany/dark red nrew with a pinkish tan head. Aroma of fruity dark fruit, iced tea, pear, rasins, grapefruit and caramel. Taste is full body, thick and sweet with low carbonation. Finish is sweet bitter, a slight grapefruit aftertaste with high alcohol warmth. RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA May 28, 2007 The hops make this taste like a glass of grapefruit juice into which someone has put a sprig of pine bough as a swizzle stick. But in a good way. DMRz (218), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 28, 2007 Medium reddish color with virtually no head. Flavors are of orange peel, sweet malt, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor starts of sweet and fruity but ends almost too bitter with intense hops and alcohol. If it was balanced better I would have enjoyed this much more... Overall it is good but surely not worth the price - worth trying once but still a bit much. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 25, 2007 An aroma blast of molasses, dried fruit, pine, alcohol, cinnamon, and more. Pours a ruddy reddish orange with a small off white head. Flavor is mostly a malt explosion. Dried fruit, heavy syruppy molasses, then a nice piney hoppiness. Heavy dry mouthfeel, sweet and coaty. This is a complex brew. This is a nice brew. It better be since I spent $24 on it. Three Floyds in your face! hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA May 25, 2007 Reddish pour. Citrus/hoppy notes in aroma. Pine, grapefruit, citrus flavor. Finish is bitter and sweet. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA May 23, 2007 5/7/07: Bottle, yellow wax – ‘07 Light garnet body with a thick almond colored head. Nose of caramel, grapefruit, fir and pepper. Very flavorful; caramel, grapefruit, lemon, florals and hops. Chewy mouthfeel with a long slightly sour finish. Nicely balanced and quite tasty. Rating #700 - thx hunnies! (Song: Roll out the barrel) Nephilium (541), Ohio, USA May 21, 2007 From 2007 bottle. Pours a cloudy amber, reminding me of apple cider, no head to be seen. Strong fruit aroma, with underlying sweetness. Fairly thin mouthfeel, sweet fruity flavor with strong hints of alcohol with a long bitter finish. At this point, it seems vastly overrated and overpriced. I’ll see how the one that I’ve got in the cellar ages and revisit it in a year or so. Hopefully it matures into something much better, or else I’ll stick to more reasonably priced, better barleywines. cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA May 21, 2007 Poured a deep reddish copper with a white head. I could smell lots of fruit and citrus. Tasting this beer gave me a new found sense of a great barley wine. With its huge flavor came a sting leaving me with numbness to my mouth. Not as bad as it sounds though. Behemoth is sure to warm you up!
