| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2009 $18 bottle from Steve’s Liquor new location in Madison. Pours a copper color with a medium off-white head which leaves a few streaks of sticky lacing. Aroma is apricot, toffee, caramel malts, piney hops, and alcohol. Taste has a base of caramel and toffee and finishes with a piney bitterness, with some apricot and sherry in there as well. Meh. Didn’t satisfy my expectations. Seems to be the norm when it comes to Three Floyds. Juelze (895), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2009 Thanks to my brother for sharing this. Pours a rich deep copper color with thin whispy white head. Aroma is rich hop profile with some caramel malt and light alcohol notes. Taste is pretty hoppy with some notes of apricot, pear and caramel all mixing up quite well. This beer finishes smooth with just a bit of alcohol warmth. Good stuff. However, at $18 a bomber, there are more barleywines to be had at a better price. bobbypaulson (100), , Minnesota, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 23, 2009 Bottle. Ap: Golden amber. Small white head. Ar: Incredible sweet with a touch of citrus hops. Candy hops! Grapes, fig, cognac. Fla: Sweet. Some raisins, but too much like in way too many barley wines. Some hop bitterness. A little too inviting, fruity and uncomplex for its own good. Ov: Big boodied, very smooth and inviting. More elegant than agressive. gam (1092), brisbane, Australia

Uniltered amber/gold, quickly disappearing medium bubble size/non-homogenous head.
Very fruity/sweet. Hop also very evident in aroma.
Full bodied, medium fizzy.
Medium sweet, changing to hoppy, then slowly fading out as a mix of sweet and hoppy. Nice symphony and balance.
No clear alcohol presence underlines the quality.
