4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
What can I say other than this is the BEST BEER I have ever had. Now let me say that I drove an hour from Chicago to the brewrey to pick up some of 3 Floyds for the Super Bowl. I bought a growler of this barleywine and I feel in love (no I did not take it to the party, I am selfish). Now back to the beer; there may be better beers but I have never tried it. this one may get a boost from the fact that it did not sit on a boat from Europe for the last few months. Like a bouquet of flowers, fresh, sweet, intense. This beer is divine. Dark red/copper color. Almost no head but leaves a thick coating of lace in the glass neverless. This beer is not a thirst quencher by any means. Perfect for after dinner, late night. Unbelievebly smooth but intensely complex.Hard to find any faults. This is my second pint tonight (10.5%) so it has a real kick. I will definitely heading back to Munster, IN soon. By the way check my thoughts on Alpha King and Dreadnaught Ales - AMESOME.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This was pretty hoppy. Doesn’t taste like your typical barleywine. It was more like an ipa but I would drink again.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Stout Barrel House. Tawny amber, low golden head. Chewy toffee and piney hops, full bodied with a long bitter finish. A great American barley wine.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 2015 release so quite fresh, 04/21/2015. Pours a ruby brown color, dense medium head with sticky lacing. Aroma of citrus with heavy grapefruit and noticeable tropical notes, sticky sweet toffee keeping pace with mildly resinous pine. Taste is grapefruit and thick bitterness balanced by sweet caramel malts and citrus zest, lingering grassy pine notes. Thick body, chewy. Really nice, a standard for the American style.

Just an amazingly enjoyable barley wine. Such balance as in all three Floyds brews. Enjoy.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, across several vintages. Pours an amber color with a tan head. Somewhat oily in appearance. Aromas are of sweet raisins, dates, alcohol, bitter/earthy hops and a light roast. Taste is incredibly sweet. Cloying at times. This thing is over-hopped to the gills! Tropical fruit waves come through, but does little to calm the sweet malt that continue to linger and cling to my palate. Not a big fan of this one, but I can see why some would like it.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted from draft. Pours a deep amber with off white head. Aroma is citrus fruits, caramel and some dark fruits as well. Tastes almost like an imperial IPA. You still get the dark fruits and caramel/toffee sweetness but there is citrus and piney flavors to balance. Nice mild bitterness that barleywine often lack. Excellent beer as usual from three floyds.
