htsprint1 (51), Urbana, Alabama, USA May 5, 2005 Dollar per oz. serving at the Dark Lord release bash. Back porch wood sealant color with light beige head. Nice hoppy piney aroma. Simple bitter hoppy taste with a little carmel malt underneath. Solid IPA, but not even in the same class as 3F’s Dreadnaught (or Alpha King for that matter). Not a bad effort, but certainly not a unique beer to search out.
mcmd (57), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours a clear burnt orange, thin white head which dissipates. Aroma is the characteristic three floyd apricot and hops aroma but buried in oak. Hints of caramel apples, interesting smell. Flavor is sweet dried apricots followed by a nice hoppy bitterness which is accompanied by heavy oak which is lasting in the finish. Very interesting beer - an oak aged imperial IPA. Very nice as usual from FFF sunevdj (1550), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Jan 7, 2009 Bottle with the Club. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Smells of oak. Sweet with strong oaky aromas and vanilla. Full body. Sticky mouthfeel. Too much oak. Butters (733), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 6, 2009 Sampled at tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting. Clear amber pour with small white head. Sweet vanilla and hop aroma. Flavor is a very mellow earthy hoppiness with some fruitiness as well. And again with some awesome label art!
