UPDATED: JUL 3, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours golden copper. Creamy head with nice lacing. Aroma of piney hops and sweet malts. Balanced hop flavor with carmel, fruit (peaches & apricots), pine, oak and rye. Soft, carbonated mouthfeel with a peppery finish. Alcohol and bitterness is well balanced. A very drinkable and unique IPA, complete with amazing label artwork.

Deep orange color, cloudy... sweet and hoppy (earthy and a little piney) aroma. Flavor reminds me a little of licorice, with deep, spicy hops. Body is thin and extremely well-balanced between alcohol and hops. Strong, spicy and extremely well-flavored. Grainy flavors are delectable in this! Finish is a little astringent, but mostly hoppy and with a definite yeast presence. Love it! My ears are WARM!

Great English IPA that is hoppy but leans more towards a higher ABV ale. Just finished a bomber and the more I sipped, the better it got.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Appearance is a slightly hazy copper with a thick head of orange/white foam that leaves a sticky film of lacing in sheets down the glass. Aroma is pine-y and resinous with hints at oranges. Taste is pungent and bitter with a focus on pine-y hops and an herbal finish. Dry and warming on the throat. Overall, good, but not a standout.

Bottle shared with Mike, Steve, Ryan & Big Daddy. Thanks Mike! Nose is caramel, toffee, herbal & grassy hops. Flavor follows with some nice roastiness, light dark fruit, solid bitterness & brown sugar.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MacDouglass (64) - Illinois, USA - DEC 17, 2011
Aroma: something orange and/or syrupy; I was expecting green hops bouquet, but I can’t find it; Appearance: pours a hazy, natural honey color, with medium white head, more orange than yellow, some lace; Taste: bitter but with lots of malt, the malt makes it almost too sweet, pine resin aftertaste, pretty good so long as this is as sweet as it gets (don’t venture into Avery’s Maharaja territory); Palate: a bit heavy for my stomach, but maybe I’m just having an off night, I guess I was expecting something less complex, like a Torpedo IPA, nevertheless, let me say that this is another fine offering from 3 Floyds; Overall: not too bad, I’m glad to have tried it and rated it, I’d recommend it

Bottle pours golden with a creme colored head. Aromas are resin, caramel, and earthiness. Taste is carmel, toast, floral and a bit nutty. Body is average, carbonation is medium high, head retention and lacing are good. A really nice beer that works well. Very toasty and carmel like.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours clear orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of exotic fruits, mango, tangerine, candied sugars and honey. Flavour of candied sugar, caramel malts, vanilla, oak, tropical fruits and English hops. Nice flavour profile. Medium to full bodied. Nice.
