brewblackhole (1247), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Jun 28, 2008 Hoppy alright, but not with the usual overabundance of West Coast hops, per the norm of Three Floyds,a splendid, different earthy grassy hop aroma, hoppy and malty intial taste quickly transforms to prominent grassy, grainey hops, and finally an almost sharp bitterness in finish, A refreshingly different type of Hop bomb from 3F’s. Thanks Kingpin
TheEpeeist (1032), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2008 22 oz bottle. Just hazy pale orange with a puffy white head. Wonderful fruity nose of tangerine, melon and pineapple. Medium body with a light tingle; almost syrupy. Taste is spicy caramel and orange juice with a juniper bite but still smooth. Hints of carrot juice and tea. Primarily sweet with just enough hops to tone it down. Surprised to see this is an EPA and not a DIPA. mreusch (482), Olathe, Kansas, USA Nov 17, 2008 22oz. bomber, with thanks to pantanap. Pours clear, mostly golden with some orange highlights, with a thin foamy off-white head, moderate lacing. Aroma is citrus, floral, caramel, and I swear I keep getting hints of perfume. The flavor dials up the hops, with more floral and citrus, some pine, spice and an understated caramel backbone. Not bad, a bit more intense than your average IPA, but then again it’s FFF we’re talking about so no surprise there. Wow, this really came to life even more as it warmed as well, rounding out nicely into a smoother, almost creamy experience, very nice. Thanks Kan! theisti (1180), Leawood, Kansas, USA Nov 3, 2008 22 oz bomber from tjthresh. Pour is mostly clear orange golden with a one inch off white head. Nice lacing as the head falls. Aroma of bready, fresh, slightly caramelly sweet hops. There is some orange peel citrus layered on top. Taste is the citrus, caramel breadiness to start, transitioning pretty quick to some bitterness and alcohol heat. Starts off nice, but gets a bit overpowering. Palate is mouth coating, slick and hot. Dial this one down, and I would really enjoy it. msante79 (341), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Oct 29, 2008 Rating # 300. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aroma is hops, citrus, oak, pine, and malt. Flavor is english hops, citrus and caramel with a touch of oak and vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Hides alcohol very well. This is about as good an engilish style IPA can get in my opinion. Wasatch (187), Layton, Utah, USA Oct 25, 2008 22oz. Bomber
Pours a cloudy golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice little creamy head, with some nice thick creamy sticky lacing. The nose is hoppy with some malts, bourbon/whiskey, slight oak, with some citrus. The taste is very nice, really different, hoppy, with some malts, oaky, with some bourbon/whiskey notes, sweet, with some citrus. Medium body. Very drinkable, like I said this is a different English IPA, also never had a English IPA at 9% ABV. Glad to have a chance to check this badboy out, Thanks Christian.
