On tap at Three Floyd’s. Chocolate and black licorice along with a hefty hop punch. Light alcohol and moderate sweetness. Full body. Big and bold; quite drinkable.

Poured into snifter at brewpub. Tan head and jet black. Very hoppy in both nose and taste. Some chocolate and malt, but after it warms up a bit. Boozy, bitter finish. While I love 3Fs, sometimes the hops can be a bit over kill for the style. Black IPA would be a better classification.

pitch black with a good head of foam. There are a lot of hops in the aroma. Smells like a black IPA. The taste is like an orange mocha. You get some dark chocolate and coffee, but the hops are the most present flavor. Interesting beer. I can see this being a beer some might really love; hoppy stouts and black IPAs aren’t my favorite though.

I love when FFF does stouts and this does not disappoint. On tap at the pour is brown to black with a khaki head in. The aroma is of roast and pine. The hops are very well done but not overwhelming.CHEERS!

bike out of commission, had to drive. tons of cars, but no line, outside. looking forward to the pumpkin mac ’n’ cheese (pork rind crust?) and maybe the poutine (bone marrow and fried capers?). / thick, toast, lively, clove, orange, frothy, bread, rocky, cough drop, cheese, salty

On tap at FFF: pour is murky dark brown/black with a modest khaki head in.this snifter. The nose is heavy on the roast and pine, with subtle chocolate and caramel here. It reminds of alpha klaus, with a creamier mouthfeel. Anyway: more hop / pine bitterness, espresso, chocolate, cream, with some roast present as well. I suppose there is.a lingering booziness.near the finish, with some dark fruits at the end for me. This is a nice one, but not a mind blower for me

On tap at FFF brewpub. Pours a dark brown, almost black color with small tan head and slight lacing. Smells like a Three Floyds brew, with piney and citrus hops. Flavor is a mix of piney hops, sweet dark malts, bourbon and prune juice. Taste is sweet until the bitter boozy finish. Body is medium to full. When I ordered it, I had no idea it was an Imperial Stout, and thought it might be a strong black IPA. This was a real treat, and exactly what I was hoping for from a FFF draft-only release.

Dark pour with an espresso head. Aroma of roast and sugar. Creamy mouth. Taste is full of roast and burned sugar. Bitter finish. Nice beer.

On tap at the source. Glad that it was still on at this point... Pours a deeper cola deeper brownish black pour, a touch lighter at its edges, and topped with almost a non-existent head which looks almost still... Aroma has an initial burst of citrusy hops, green and piney as well to go with the previously mentioned. Stouty qualities with its chocolate and malt appeal come through as a second thought but still apparent with a touch of roast as well. Hops still seem to rule on this one... Flavors are more of the same with more if an added malt stouty sweetness that initially pairs up well with that green citrus hop component, a nice melding of sorts. Hops seem to takeover after the initial. Body doesn’t seem all that big, thick, cloying for such a strengthy brew. A bit of honey and dark fruit qualities develop late. Nice on a day such as this, very hop forward and recommended for that alone.

Black pour with a 1/2 finger head. Three Floyd's signature hop (Alpha King/Zombie Dust) aroma. Full mouthfeel. I would say this is an imperial stout, Zombie Dust hybrid. Looks like they had a similar idea as Victory Storm King, but I like this one more. Well worth a try.... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
