Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate malt, resin hop and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt bittersweet flavor with a heavy dark bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a complex standout beer.

22oz bottle, big thanks to b3shine! Shared with local Ratebeerians. Black color. Thin brown head, very nice darker color to the head. Leaves great thicker bits of lace. Looks wonderful. Bigger body, good chewiness to the texture. Very satisfying thickness. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, lightly drying in the finish. Great texture. Fantastic flavor, too. Good bigger earthy mildly piney resiny hop, nice roast malt, dark chocolate, cocoa nib and mild coffee. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Lighter sweet. Light bit of heat on the end. Very satisfying balanced hoppy stout. Really tasty.

Snifter pour on tap at the brewpub (Munster, IN). A RIS of the hoppy variety. Pours a deep blackish hue, dark and thicker, opaque body with some legs on the swirl. Some dark brownish glow further into the beer. Frothy tannish head dies to a ring and laces small. Aromas show a melange of black malts, toasty and cararmel elements, kiss of roast but a touch more toards fruit and some dark plum. Firm citrusy and resiny hopping shows up. Grapefruit, florals, and grass. Pine, more grapefruit, and fruity hops. Initial mirrors this, firm fuller body gives a faster rip towards an overwhelming citrusy and fruity hop melange, blast of good bitterness. Rich bitterness, gumball, and grapefruit. Orange and florals, bubblegum. Middle shows some thicker dark malts, black, caramel, gentle roast and dark fruit that melds into a large fruity hop feel. Grapefruit, Amarillo hops, and florals. Backend remains bitter and hop centered, some toast, faint dash of cocoa as thickness dies off a bit. Richly hopped stout, firm thicker body, but a boatload of flavor and bittering hops rue the day here. Fun and a change of pace from their usual RIS. Aroma really gets better as it wamrs.

22 oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a dark brown to black in color with a small khaki head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate ample citrus and earthy hop bitterness, definitely one of the hoppier imperial stouts, the body seems thin, very much like a black IPA.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a very slightly translucent dark cola with foamy beige head. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, roast, and loads of hops. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Good beer that I see as more of an Imperial Black IPA than an Imperial Stout.

Sampled at GABF 2014 with Andrew, Mel and company. Pours a deep blackish brown body with thin tan lacing. Aroma is fresh pine and rich chocolate roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of chocolate, light roast and super fresh pine hop character. Really nice hoppy stout.

On tap at Three Floyd’s. Chocolate and black licorice along with a hefty hop punch. Light alcohol and moderate sweetness. Full body. Big and bold; quite drinkable.

Bottle: Pours coffee-black with a quick, thin tan head. Pine, chocolate, grapefruit, anise aroma. Taste is grapefruit, caramel and chocolate malt, licorice, cream, vanilla.... Black IPA/Stout.....I really loved this blending.... It meshes two of my favourite styles brilliantly.... Beautiful flavor and feel....OUTSTANDING.

On tap at the source. Glad that it was still on at this point... Pours a deeper cola deeper brownish black pour, a touch lighter at its edges, and topped with almost a non-existent head which looks almost still... Aroma has an initial burst of citrusy hops, green and piney as well to go with the previously mentioned. Stouty qualities with its chocolate and malt appeal come through as a second thought but still apparent with a touch of roast as well. Hops still seem to rule on this one... Flavors are more of the same with more if an added malt stouty sweetness that initially pairs up well with that green citrus hop component, a nice melding of sorts. Hops seem to takeover after the initial. Body doesn’t seem all that big, thick, cloying for such a strengthy brew. A bit of honey and dark fruit qualities develop late. Nice on a day such as this, very hop forward and recommended for that alone.
