I honestly thought this was a black IPA rather than an Imperial Stout. I really enjoyed the flavor, but felt it lacked a body that is expected in a stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Split bomber with SHERM1016...thanks!! Nose was licorice; chocolate; some mild hops...Taste was more chocolate; more licorice; pine. Very very tasty.... SHERM tells me that this was an older bottle...fresher botte may have had more hops...was good for me!

22oz bottle, split with dwm1034. Pours a thick, jet black color with a thin tan head and some lacing. Aroma is black licorice, chocolate, pine hops. Medium to heavy on the palate with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, coffee, chocolate, black licorice, pine hops, some pine bitterness, with a sweet, chocolatey finish.

Look - Jet black. Not as thick on head but was not agressive with pour. Tan head color. Lacing is not retained. Smell - Black IPA mixed with stout. Hoppy. Orange. Grapefruit. Dank. Chocolate. Coffee. Alcohol. Very complex and perfect. Taste - Alcohol, pine, and bitter up front. Chocolate and caramel finish. Feel - Not too creamy, not too watery. Carbonation does not explode. Overall - I am glad I picked up a bottle of this after having it as my last beer at Dark Lord Day 2015. I am much more coherent this time around. It is a great stout!

1/29/2015: Woah! Huge fresh hop aroma... It’s like opening a packet of hop pellets and taking a very deep breath. Very dark brown with a foamy brown head. Oh crap, that is a big beer. Loads of hops and alcohol coming through, but those are dampened a bit by some caramel maltiness. Medium-full body; smooth and slightly creamy body. Damn, that is one huge beer that’s actually quite good for a super hoppy imperial stout.
