UPDATED: JUN 18, 2013 thnx to bobochamp ! pours brown/black , no foam. smell is coockies, in some way .. spicy ( peppers ) in the first sip, sambalm-ish spicy in the next. waaw! chilyyyyyy! the heat gets cooled down by the bourbon ( wich makes this version actualky better than the cognac, even to me ! ) its more drinkable, and complex. its superheat, than buttery - soft due to the bourbon. than again peppers in aftertaste. dark lord-sweetness ( = all the taste you get in dl ) is always in the back , less prominant, but very ’there’ ) i cant believe i actualy like a dark lord-variant this much ! rerate/ edit . above was after first glass. i actualy had 3 gfasses ( of the same bottle, closed pretty darn good in between times ) . the older it gets ( opened ) or is it the more i get ’used ’ to it , this keeps getting better. 4,3 uprate to 4,6 . its just damn good, and keeps surprising. unlike dark lord. ( one sip and i have had enough) . a sipper for sure, but a DAMN fine one !

75cl, Vintage 2013 (Orange wax), Bottle 243/417 (no mention of ABV), as ’Dark Lord Bourbon Bareel Aged with Guajillo Chilis’, new exclusive American brew, with chili peppers, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex sweet Stout, very spicy/roasted and slightly alcoholic/woody, very heavy, yet balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet very expensive!, WOW!

Shared at DLD 2012: Pitch black with a small head, oily and lot of tears. Nose has notes of chocolate, anise, roast, tar, tobacco, chili pepper, herbal hops, smoked meats and some vanilla bean bourbon vapours. The taste starts big and brash malts with lots of earthy notes before pepper kicks in and add depth and a bite. A sipper for sure, sticky and oily with only a slight oxidization. Overall I like this quite a bit... maybe I will get more one day.

Bomber to taster from notes (shared by someone as soon as he bought it at Dark Lord Day, 2011). Looks good; a viscous black with thin tan lacing. Smells of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, and peppers. Tastes like it smells with a nice, rich moutheel and some heat from the peppers. Excellent stuff!

Barrel-Aged Dark Lord tasting! Thanks to all the guys in the tasting group who helped make this happen. Bottle 46/165 The beer appears dark brown, nearing black, with minimal head. The aroma brings some roast, peppery spices, vanilla, oak, chocolate. Great flavor! Peppers are well integrated - bold but but not overpowering. A fabulous beer. Sweet but not too. Low carbonation and silky smooth on the palate. Another terrific variant of a world class stout. Highly recommended. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-15-2012

Bottle shared with the group. Pours black with a small beige head. The aroma opens sweet malty, vanilla, berries, some powdered pepper, chocolate and wood. The flavor has very little in the way of spicy peppers because we waited a bit long on this. Sweet malts, caramel, chocolate, berries, vanilla and a light splash of smoke. This was tasty, but I wish I drank this fresh to take advantage of the peppers.

750mL yellow wax #23/165 thanks to noodleuser and ygtbsm94. Oil colored pour with a fizzy head. Nose holds pepper, rich chocolate ganache, hot wood, peat, cherry, vanilla. Flavor is much of the same, and moves to more plum, raisin, and creamy dark fruit presence, along with that hot pepper and wood. Starts fizzy on the carbonation, but ends soft and luxuriously. Quite good, but definitely not as good as the original.

muddy sepia, thinnest tan ring head gone quick. Nose is lightest pepper spice, cookie dough heavy, light plastic. Flavor has heavy cake and dough, fudgey chocolate mid with a sticky but thin finish, lightest bit of grit as well. Quite plain with no pepper.

Dull slightly vegetal nose compared, disappointing compared to the pappy for sure. Taste is similarly disappointing, all the sugar, no pappy, toss in strange vegetal notes. Just gross.

Thanks Brad! Black pour with garnet hints and a small beige head. Huge cocoa nib and dark chocolate with mild chilli spice. Big dark fruit in the flavor- raisin, fig, dark chocolate, and very pleasant pepper notes. Medium body for the style with low carbonation and a oily finish.
