Our seasonal milk stout aged in bourbon barrels for one year. Chocolate, coconut, and vanilla liquid awesomeness.

On tap @ FFF. Black pour with a small, creamy, tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, vanilla, coffee, bourbon and milk caramels. The flavor is lots of sweet chocolate malt and sugar with boozy bourbon/vanilla and a slightly tanic oak presence. Full body with mild carbonation and a thick, lush mouth feel. Really good beer at small dosages due to the sweetness but the bourbon barrels adds a great complexity to this.

Tap at FFF. Dark black pour, almost no carbonation and a strong whiskey aroma. Flavor is dark chocolate, some vanilla and strong woody whiskey melding throughout the beer as it was drank. A little thinner and hotter than I’d preffer, but really tasty nonetheless.

Newly tapped at 3Fs. Pours black with little head. Aroma is outstanding with strong bourbon, vanilla, and cream notes. Very tasty...bourbon, malts, vanilla, chocolate. Alittle too sweet, especially on the front end. Regardless it is a Great BA beer.

Enjoyed on tap at 3 Floyds Brewpub in Munster, IN with some good friends, they ran out of Spazzerak but this was a nice surprise which they had tapped after the aforementioned brew ran out. Appearance pitch black, medium body, little head thats dark tan, rims around glass. Aroma of bourbon, lactose, peppermint, very nice. Taste is really freaking good. Smooth and creamy, boubon is prevalent but not prominent, roasted malt and peppermint notes. Outstanding.

Draft @ DLD 11. This was the first beer our group picked up as soon as we were inside the gates. Pours dark brown with a medium sized beige head. The aroma was milk chocolate, bourbon, vanilla with some minor cherry notes that I find typical of a Woodford barrel. The flavor has much of the same; chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and dark fruits. There is a touch of acidity to the back. It did seem to hold up rather well in the barrel.

an above average milk stout, but a bit of a let down. The bourbon is nicely muted which I prefer as apposed to the typical over barring BA stouts. I think they should have done this treatment to a newer beer. I just think the 08’ has fallen off to much. It could have been a special beer if the beer was more pronounced.

Pours black with reddish edges, tan head and great retention. Aroma is sherry barrel, vanilla, molasses, toffee, and coffee. Taste is sherry oxidation, a disagreeable medicinal note, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, molasses, and a hint of salty smoke. Body is medium-heacy, low carbonation, high bitterness from both roasted malts and barrel, long smoky finish. Overall, a bit too medicinal in character; this one really doesn’t come together in my opinion.

Thanks to ? at DLD11. I enjoyed this one... out of the many barreled stouts that quickly reached 80F in the glass from sitting in the sun. What a combo. Don’t think the barrel improved the beer, but it was one of the better dark beers I had this day.

On tap at DLD11. Black with a beige head. Ashy oaky malts in the aroma. sweet ashy Flavors. I taste the milk underneath that oak. It’s ok but it doesn’t quite hold up the barrel. 7/3/7/3/15

Thanks to jrallen34 for braving the element that was the FFF brewpub and snagging some of this on DLD. Served in a SAVOR snifter. Pours a very dark brown with a thin tan head. The nose starts the show off right with some nice really barrel character--light bourbon plus some mild oak and vanilla coming through in the background. Really nice start. Good moderate malt presence and a nice creaminess come through as well. The flavor is nice with good notes of bourbon and the always-pleasurable Moloko base beer. Nice balance between the two components of this one. Mouthfeel is luscious and creamy. Nice finish with just a touch of booze. Very well done. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-11-2011 1
