Pours dark red, almost black color with a minimal head. Aroma of cognac, roasted malts, mild vanilla notes, chocolate and tar. Flavor of tar, syrup, caramel, some brown sugar and chocolate, mild roasted malts too. A bit too sweet for me.

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is rich over ripe fruit, light chocolate vanilla. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a big alcoholic bourbon fruit palate, Full bodied with soft carbonation. A little too sweet for me and the barrel ageing totally dominates.

Well, was worried it might be infected with all the posts about it being so. My bottle seemed fine. Maybe a hint of sourness, but I might have been picking up on that due to thinking it would be there. The beer itself is only ok. Sweet smooth taste. Some bourbon notes. Totally not worth $35 a bottle. This beer should easily only cost $10. Yes it was good, but not that good.
