jabrewing (11), Denver, Colorado, USA Mar 26, 2008 Very nice balance of cherry and bourbon that the alcohol hid behind. Not much head from little corbonation. I enjoyed this beer but not enough to go back. To many other worthy barley wines. lordeche (328), Bridgewater, Massachusetts, USA Mar 2, 2008 Finally got to try some Three Floyds at NOTB, and I can say that I was not disappointed in the least. Great balance between sweetness and bitterness. I would have expected a cloying brew considering that a 12.5% barleywine was combined with cherries, but the barrel-aging really mellow this one out. Citrus, toffee, caramel, cherry, whiskey, bitter hops. Really a beautiful brew. ajm (265), USA Feb 29, 2008 Updated: Mar 14, 2008Not bad. The barleywine is so big that it really pushed the cherries aside for me - really crammed them into the very top. The remaining tartness also kind of killed the depth of the body. I should drink this again. bu11zeye (3572), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 26, 2008 (Draft) pours a cloudy reddish brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of breadiness, toffee, cherry, and citrus. Flavor of citrusy hops, toffee, bread, vanilla, nuts, light cherry, and oak. alexanderj (1196), Roanoke, Virginia, USA Feb 21, 2008 NOTB; another beer that I liked the original better, although the aging wasn’t overdone and did add some new elements to the beer. Enjoyed the palate on this one. The cherry and wood/whiskey/bourbon aspects were just flavor accents. As mentioned, enjoyed the original better, but still thought this was one of the better beers of the night.
