Very nice balance of cherry and bourbon that the alcohol hid behind. Not much head from little corbonation. I enjoyed this beer but not enough to go back. To many other worthy barley wines.

Finally got to try some Three Floyds at NOTB, and I can say that I was not disappointed in the least. Great balance between sweetness and bitterness. I would have expected a cloying brew considering that a 12.5% barleywine was combined with cherries, but the barrel-aging really mellow this one out. Citrus, toffee, caramel, cherry, whiskey, bitter hops. Really a beautiful brew.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2008 Not bad. The barleywine is so big that it really pushed the cherries aside for me - really crammed them into the very top. The remaining tartness also kind of killed the depth of the body. I should drink this again.

(Draft) pours a cloudy reddish brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of breadiness, toffee, cherry, and citrus. Flavor of citrusy hops, toffee, bread, vanilla, nuts, light cherry, and oak.

NOTB; another beer that I liked the original better, although the aging wasn’t overdone and did add some new elements to the beer. Enjoyed the palate on this one. The cherry and wood/whiskey/bourbon aspects were just flavor accents. As mentioned, enjoyed the original better, but still thought this was one of the better beers of the night.

EBF 08. Pours cloudy/almsot murky, with a thin lasting head- dull deep copper body. Aroma is muddled and al mixed up with light black cherry skin, alcohol, and a mess of malts mixed in- some catty hops and hot sharp bourbon. Some vanilla and oak in the flavor but just a ton sof toasted and sharp crystal malts, hoppy astringent bitterness and more bourbon with almost no cherry flavor but some almond astringency and alcohol in the end. Meh-

Extreme Beer Fest 2/15/08: I didn’t actually get the strong cherry aroma/taste that I expected, only faint cherry notes. The taste was dominated by the bourbon and wood, which detracted from the beer. Meh.

EBF NOTB. I really like the regular behemoth. This one had the same sweet malt dominating with some woodiness and just a hint of tart cherries. Good palate and good aging.

EBF V NOTB. Aroma very much of a sweet, cherry liqueur. Flavor develops more with the bourbon and cherries mingling with a rich malt base, but still runs the border of liqueur sugariness. It seemed like every other sip changed my opinion of this from a nice, tart, cherry barley wine to an overly sweetened bourbon concoction, but there’s no question that at the end of the day it’s a really interesting and solid brew.

Already rated look at other cherry behemoth, should be same version if not correct me or take this off of site.CHEERS! Earlier Rating: 11/9/2007 Total Score: 4.1 This was a nice touch to Behemoth adding cheeries and ageing it in wood,it was very smooth with a nice but not overwhelming cheery finish sort of like the way they did the BRUCE with the raspberry puree,it did have a little of a bourbon kick to it but that is what it is all about,it should of won a medal.CHEERS!
