COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our delicious stout aged in a barrel since 2010 has a nose of coffee, roasted malts and piney hops. This medium bodied stout has a broad depth of maltiness and a clean dry finish.

Bottle in GTMW ticket line - Pours deep brown with a thin tan head. Nose is roasty, a bit sharp with a touch of black cherry. Taste is the same. Real subtle cherries mixed in with dry, roasty stout. Not much barrel other than a subtle whiskey heat. Thin and a bit carbonated. Glad someone else paid a bunch of money for this bottle and not me.

On draft at Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown DC. Pours black with a tan head. Rich bourbon aroma. Somewhat thin mouthfeel but about right for a stout. Flavors of oak, vanilla and bourbon. Mellow finish.

Aroma very well influenced by the smell of bourbon. Appearance dark brown with a slight tan head. Taste of vanilla and bourbon. Very smooth and drinkable long and sweet overtones on the palate

Draft. Black color, brown head. Aroma of pure bourbon. Taste is more of the same. Too much bourbon, not enough beer.

Strong Ale 2012. Nice black pour with a khaki head. Fairly sweet aroma of vanilla, burnt sugar, and bourbon. Some oak, a lot of roasted malt, and a bit of licorice. Tastes a little bit watery, but good otherwise. Plenty of bourbon, vanilla, and sweet sugar. Chocolate, roasted malt, and a good deal of licorice. Some oak and a bit of cream.

Tap @ PP Strong Ale. Black pour with a slick of tan foam. Aroma is semi-rich, semi-hot bourbon with vanilla, light coconut, chocolate, and roast. Taste is slightly hot bourbon with vanilla, chocolate, roast, and alcohol bitterness through the finish. Awesome.

not bad, but the barrel wiped out all the clean roasted coffee notes of regular black sun and replaced it with a watered down creamy bourbon and vanilla presence. prefer regular black sun. hops also got dominated. tasted fine, but everything i love about regular black sun was gone.

Draft shared by b3shine at DLD ’12- thanks again, Beau! Pours a deep, mostly opaque brown with a tiny tan ring for a head. Big bourbon barrel notes burst out of the aroma, balanced by the coffee and dry roastiness of the base beer. Notes of pine, dark chocolate, vanilla, and oak also back it up. Medium-bodied, with a smooth mouthfeel and modest carbonation. I like Black Sun a lot and this was a nice variation.

On tap at Dark Lord Day. Looks average. Pitch black with virtually no head or lacing. Smells good; you can definitely pick up on the bourbon. Tastes Alright, but this is a bit of a letdown for a BB FFF brew. Mouthfeel is average. This is nowhere near as good as the BA DL varietals (none of which were on tap when I was in the bar).

À la pompe au pub: Un déluge incontrôlable de tannins et d’alcool accompagne le chocolat. Sirupeux avec peu d’effervescence. Parait plus grosse qu’elle ne l’est.
