2014 Bottle cracked with the Beer Temple guys in Amsterdam, side by side with 2014 DL. Pours near black with a ring beige head. Aroma of cookies, vinous aspects, dark fruits, soy, raisins, brandy and barrel coming through, fudge, chocolate. Flavour is heavy sweet, but not so cloying as the plain. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with boozy alcohol warmth in the finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Dark Lord Day 2014. Pours a motor oil. Light brown head. Good carb. Raspberry jam, cocoa, soy on nose. Taste is a blast of sweet dark fruit, baker’s chocolate, some toffee notes. Bit of coffee as it washes out. Palate: syrupy and filmy. This stuff stayed in my mouth all day, affecting the flavor of everything from the other beers I tried to the toothpaste I used that night. Too sweet. Stop making sugar bomb stouts, 3F!!

2014. On tap at DLD, then later from the bottle. No real head or lace (like all BADLs) but it does stain my glass a la Huna.

Brandy barrels accent the delicious BADL base perfectly, imparting a fruity character which adds significant depth to the overall profile. Barrel really shines. Sticky, viscous, awesome.

Vastly superior to the 2011 Brandy DL in every way.

On tap at DLD 2014. This was amazing stuff. Dark lord is a beer that is perfect for the barrel and this is no exception. Sweet slightly boozy. I love darklord and this was an amazing improvement on it.

Pours a lovely opaque black with a tan head. Has a very sweet raisin aroma. Goes down smooth with a clean sweet taste.

*Moving my old review over here*
Thanks to Norm? for sharing this one with us at the first Voodoo Barrel Room release. Bottle #304/392 reviewed from what little notes I took.

A - Pours black with a small half finger tall tan head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small spots of lace down most of the glass. Stains the glass brown after its all gone.

S - Smells of chocolate, molasses, vanilla, caramel, dark fruits, oak, dark roasted malt and fruity brandy. Smells like regular dark lord with a shot of brandy poured into it.

T - Starts off with the strong sugary sweetness - mainly chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, molasses and caramel - quickly being joined by the brandy barrel, oak and booze burn. Finish is still really sweet with some mild heat, lingering long after the finish. More put together than the nose would imply.

M - Big body with moderate carbonation. Smoother feel than I thought it would have but that sweetness just makes it hard to drink more than a few ounces at a time.

O - A nice rift on the regular Dark Lord. It still has all of the base flavors and the added barrel treatment helps to round out the rough edges. If the sweetness could die down a bit I think this one would be really solid, as it stands it is just a really nice beer.

Bottle 24. The pour is dark. The aroma is of mild brandy, still a lot of sweetness. The taste is very nice, the brandy sweetens and milds it at the same time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the metro D tasting. Pours dark brown black almost no head. Sweet prune and plum aroma. Barrel and sweet sugar nice.
