Commercial Description:
Ireland's first and last Ard Ri (high king) of the whole Gaelic race, Brian Boru was born in Munster Ireland around 940. His mother was killed by Vikings when he was a child. He spent his life uniting the Irish tribes to become the first king of Ireland, only to be killed at Clontarf on Good Friday, 1014 putting down a rebellion by the King of the province of Leinster. Brian Boru Irish Brand Red Ale is a very rich caramelly ale with toffee, citrus, and pineapple aroma. Brian Boru is brewed with several malts and Amarillo hops. Slainte!

Bottle: HogTownHarrys bottle, shared with Harry!! Thanks Harry! Brian Boru was carried in state to my hometown before his final resting place. So, Appearance: a deep hazy rust colour. Aroma: Malt and caramel, toffee too, some slight hops too... Flavour: Took me by surprise. malt and coffee and hops and malt again, then hops again! I can’t say this is Irish, but hell, I wish it was!

Bottle. Pours a deep amber brown color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is based mostly around a fruity hop presence and sweet caramel malts. There is a bit of pineapple and grape too. Flavor starts out very floral and hoppy before some very sweet roasted toffee and caramel notes. The finish is a bit bitter but does not come across as harsh. Medium body. Good Irish ale but pretty hoppy like most Three Floyds usually are.

So I was hoping for better since I like irish ales a lot. Didn’t have the hop aroma that I came to love from FFF but it was nice nonetheless. Was a fruity nose, cherries and grapes, sweet. Appearance was a ruby red with an off white head, beautiful. Flavor is fruity, cherry and grape, with a sweet malt background. Palate is incredibly smooth. Wish there was more of a hop profile and more of a bitter finish.

Bottle, at BA Throwdown #2. Hazy reddish brown pour, thick white head, creamy lacing. Dry wheaty malt, smooth cottony field of hay and hops working together well. Smooth flavors, some hoppy elements, nice dry wheaty finish. Crisp and full of tobacco and biscuit. Dry, yet smooth and flavorful.

Bottle courtesy of Quake1028. Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of butter toffee, caramel, sweet malt, and cherries. Taste is the same as aroma with some earthy tones. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. A wonderfull session brew.

From 22oz bottle. Deep reddish brown color. Very nice, very drinkable beer. Best Irish red I’ve had. Very flavorful, with a hint of sweetness, but not enough to be off-putting.
