This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love. October release.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2007 Sampled from bottle, Nov. 2, ’07. yep, this is now in bottles as of yesterday! So there’s that same fresh catbox smell of green Pacific hops. Beyond that, I’d say it’s a fresh-hopped beer based on the pride and Joy malt profile. But now more of you can see for yourselves.

Draft at 3F’s, Rating #992! Dec. 5, 2006. Hey, all! The 2006 edition has Summit hops and a charge of wet hops from the brewery garden out back. And now it’s listed at 7.5% abv. Looks innocent enough: a dark copper in an imperial pint glass, with a half-inch head. Smell is a big slap of fresh hops, all right. Sure ’nuff, lots of citrusy hops up front in the taste, too. Spicy as well. Even hoppier than Alpha King, and a bit deeper in malt roasts. Altogether big and hearty brew!

Wow. I really liked this. On tap at the brewery. A ton of malt and a ton of hops in a very pale harvest ale/October beer. The color of apricots. Bitter, yes, but a lot of it seems to be of the flavor and aroma type. Mmmm, the smell of fresh hops. Too bad I had to drive another 40 miles because I wanted at least two more.

Phenomenal effort! Deep rich amber in color. Huge floral/grapefruit nose. Rich malty flavor. Much smoother than Dreadnaught, but similar hop profile. Easy drinking. A real treat. Finish is smooth and slightly bitter.

AMber/orange in color with a small creamy white head. The aroma is HUGE! citrus grapefruit, pineapple orange peach and pear come through. I smelled this beer for a good 5 minutes before the first sip. While it started out hoppy with the same flvors as aromas, it was not overly bitter. A nice carmelly and malty flavor helps to balance the hoppiness. With all the attention Dreadnaught gets, BrooDoo will give it a run for its money. Another great beer brewed by the Floyds.

Lightly hazed amber with a white head. Sticky lace.
Very pungant aroma. Jammy. Grassy. 1 point bump.
Full hop assault. Sort of a weird fruit, muted pine, and some spice. Very light malt character.
Medium body. Average carbonation. Dry bitter finish.
Well worth it rep.
On tap at the brewpub. When I got there they thought they were out. Fortunately, the found one more keg before I left. Hazy amber with a thin white head. Oh gawd. What a hop bomb. Ridiculously out of balance, yet easily enjoyable. citrus fruit, pine, resin, bitter and sweet. Medium body. Good to the last drop.

While it was super hoppy and had a great aroma, I wasn’t too enthused with it. I drank a few and it did go well with the Brewer’s Pie. Unbalanced, but what you’d expect from a fun experiment in hop-overload-ness. I hope they continue with this Harvest Ale tradition!

On tap @ the brewpub. Really nice, hoppy beer. As hoppy as Dreadnaught (100 ibu’s each), but a better beer overall than Dreadnaught. Great beer.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2007 Holy god was this hoppy. If I had to pick one beer that I "might" say was too hoppy for me, it would have been this. Anyhow, it has a great fresh earthy hop to it, and at 5.5% you can drink a lot of it. It was very good. Bottle 11/16/07: I’ve been wanting to get back to this beer for a while now, and it was so worth the wait. Clear light copper with a white head, some light lacing. Aroma, pine needles, grapefruit, orange, resinous notes. Flavor, citrus and pine, grapefruit, juicy hop notes, a wonderful bitter punch to it, with a great lingering bitterness on the finish. Dry, with only background malt flavors. I could drink this every day.

This was very nice. Keeps in tradition with their other beers. Copper color. Strong hops - somewhere around Dreadnaught level. Not as big in the alcohol or malt, just more mellow. A really nice beer. Enjoyable. I’d like to drink more of this.
