This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love. October release.

The Simcoe are distinct in the nose, smells a lot like Dreadnaught, and actually tastes like a tamed down Dreadnaught. Very hoppy, though not as heavy of a body, nor as alcoholic. Still, an excellent beer by my favorite brewery.

Bomber, pours a golden orange color, off white head, aroma was floral hops and citris. This beer was nicely balanced. This floral hops doesn’t work for me but it is still a veryu good offering from Three Floyds.

22oz Bomber $7.00 Three Floyds I believe the tap list at the brewery had this at 7%+ abv. Broodoo pours a slightly tarnished copper. There’s a small amount of chill haze with a few streams of carbonation rising to the surface. The head is impressive. Three fingers of white fluffiness appeared on the pour and ever so slowly fell a one finger at it’s smallest point. Left big chunky lacing all over the glass. Another Three Floyds creation with an incredible hop character. There is a solid dose of caramel that stays where it belongs, in the background, but hops are the showcase. Start off with pineapple and sweetened grapefruit. Then along comes subtle pine a mild grassy/earthy hoppiness. Last but not least is some sweet fruit that brings to mind strawberries. Caramel presents itself as a solid malt base. There’s also a touch of biscuity pale malts. Hops come across the palate much more grassy than the aroma. The grassiness is accompanied by a sturdy bitterness. The sweet fruitiness is still there but not near as prevelant as in the nose. Subtle pine on the swallow. Medium body that becomes creamy as it works over the tongue. The carbonation is on the gentle side and lets this beer work at it’s own pace. Great bitterness on the swallow that lingers. This is one of those beers that’s refreshing with each sip but the bitterness on the swallow leaves you wanting another drink immediatly. Three Floyds brewers are magicians with hops. Although the flavors of this beer aren’t as complex as the aroma would suggest, it is wet hopped, it’s still great. The aromas they can pull off with their hop selections are amazing (and flavors as well). 11/11/07

Thanks to BBB63 for the bomber. Clear orange color with a medium head. Aroma of floral, pine and citrus hops along with a lot of caramel malt. Very fresh citrus and pine taste with a fairly big caramel backbone. End was very dry with just the right bitterness. Nice beer.

Hazy copper, with a pillowy white head. Nose is wonderful--lots of resiny, piney hops, and a ton of violet/floral notes, but not overly bitter. Reminds me a lot of draft Dreadnaught in its prime. The flavor is quite dry, and very bitter, with some violets and grapefruit. All those hops could really use a bit more gravity for some balance.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2007 Bomber, new troll label. I particularly like the pumpkin-headed scythe-wielder. Intensely hoppy nose, floral, perfumey, piney, and unique FFF (I think I could pick this out of a blind lineup), with late-coming breadiness and pretzel. Strong lemon and lesser grapefruit. Smells really fresh and clean! Orange body closer to copper, clear with a soapish beige head. Taste is strongly bitter, cleans out the mouth and wipes off the taste buds, mouth is left feeling dry and slightly bready. Grapefruit gains strength in the mouth. Touches of pepper, hay, and cobweb, with a good bit of resin. Fullish body, very dry and mildly crisp. I’d take this over bottled Alpha King any day, and it absolutely squashes Gumballhead. No trace of alcohol. Great hoppiness throughout! How does this stack up to Founder’s Harvest Ale? They’re from very different breeds, and both excellent, but I’d drink several pints more of this.... Straightforward, but MAN, what a flavor!

22oz - Aroma of sharp resinous hops, citrus and simcoe. Pours cloudy orange with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor is strong with grapefruit, simcoe and sweet caramel. Palate is very tart. A great IPA.

From a bomber...I am so glad they bottle this beer now. Smells great and hoppy. Great flavor, well balanced and very smooth. Nothing over powering, just a solid beer.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2008 bomber.....looked pretty clear golden brown with a thin dissipating white head....nose was sweet citrus hopand little of anything else....fresh assertive hop flavor with a little malt to cover its tail....there’s something about these harvest ales that i really like but i give the nod to sierra nevada and bells in that regard. founders too for that matter.

10/25/08 pours a semi-transparent medium orange brown with a very thin soapy white head aroma of oily, resiny semi-sharp citrus hop with some sweetness to intermix flavors balanced out between sweeter malt and oily/resiny hops. very little bitterness in the finish. 8/4/8/4/15 = 3.9

Bomber, hoppy, nice tones-6 months in the cellar would do wonders. I still have the Holy Grail of beer a 5-gal mini-keg Of Three Floyds Dark Lord Keged (12-1999)...Floydicus knows as Does John "the trader" in Cincy
