3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle dated 22 Sept
Pours bright clear orange with a small soapy white head with some whispy lacing. Nose is floral slightly catty sweet malt base crackers very solid. Flavors are very catty lots of tart tropical hops and fairly bitter yet balanced with sweetness. My main gripe is that it’s very catty on the flavors. Fairly dry finish I am thinking dry rye malt or maris otter.

Very crisp all hop flavor in this brew. Good bitter flavor but very good over all. All hops in this with a touch of caramel malt.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Cappy’s Norwood. There’s a derth of wet-hop offerings on the shelves here that I’ve seen, so was pretty happy that these came to town. But I have to confess -- I find myself wanting to enjoy FFF brews more than I actually do. I’ve become more reluctant to pull the trigger, but it’s the right time of year to buy a $10 fresh-hop IPA I guess. I dig the commercial description of "apricot" in color -- I’d have gone with "pale", but apricot sounds more aromatic. Great head -- they sure do get good head. Aroma leaves a bit to be desired. I get apple juice, light orange, floral notes, a bit spicy -- sort of a hodge podge of what I just used to call "hoppy" 4 years ago with a healthy dose of apples. Moderately sweet, a fair bit of caramel to carry the assertively bitter finish -- again, something that 4 or 5 years ago I would have praised as "balanced," back when I wanted all the badass punch to the throat hop bitterness with a sweet front end. Palate: medium body, average carbonation, texture somewhere between oily and creamy. Overall: I wish I was hanging around this scene 10 years ago -- I expect brews like these could have been a revelation, and probably paved the way for a lot of the amazing brews I already take for granted today. But divorced from FFF’s history and pioneer status, it’s really hard for me to find much here that’s exciting, or demanding of a repeat at $10/bomber.
tl; dr summary (borrowed from OldMrCrow): Solid, but I’d rather have a 6er of Celebration.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear pale orange with a white head. Loads of floral and pine notes, plenty of sweetness, light malt notes underneath. Mostly, this is a floral/pine bomb from start to finish. Medium bitterness. Very enjoyable.

Bottled. Pours nice clear cooper. Piney floral aroma. The palate is sticky and full body. The taste is awesome, floral piney hops. Orange zesty and a malty sweet backbone. Great drink.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Clint (starcross) -- cheers, buddy! My main two impressions from this beer were 1) Lots of wet hop aroma and flavor, and 2) pretty full caramel sweet malt taste. I’m a bit hit-or-miss with wet hops -- I find them to be fresh but not as flavorful -- but this is really well done. Very sweet for an IPA, but still really good!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into signature teku glass, bottled on 9/24/2015. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, peach, apricot, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, peach, apricot, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, peach, apricot, mango, lemon/orange rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent bitterness after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness; with increasing dryness and bitterness through the glass as more hop oils linger on the palate. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible harvest IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Big Red Liquor, Indianapolis. Pours a clear orange body under a large white head that reduces with a high pillow of foam. The aroma is heavy with malty bread and caramel with traces of perfume and pine. Flavors are not as strong as the aroma, yet still display complexity. Notes of tangerine, orange popsicle, cream, vanilla, bubblegum, subtle caramel; all swirling around with a pleasant resinous hops presence that does not overpower the other flavors. Light/medium carbonation and medium body. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every offering I’ve tried so far from Three Floyds and this is no exception.
