lb4lb (1339), Austin, Texas, USA Dec 12, 2007 Bottle from trade with Holdenn Glowing, gorgeous multi shaded amber pour with a creamy lasting beige head, and some lacing. Smell is rich, fruity hops, a bit spicy, and sweet. Very nice big bold, spicy, biting, sharp, hop flavor and some pine and lots of green fresh character as well. Crisp carbonation and rich creamy body. Citrusy flavors and a bittersweet grapefruit flavor lingers on into the finish. Probably my new favorite fresh hop beer. Very nicely done and another awesome beer by Three Floyds. Can’t thank you enough for this one, Matt!
dchmela (686), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle courtesy Kmeves and shared with my buddy Ian. Cloudy amber pour with a thick white head. Citrus, grapefruit aroma, very understated, not overpowering. Malty citrus taste, lots of hops, but soooo easy to drink. Don’t know if the hops were mellowed a bit by this being last years bottle, but the hops seemed just perfect. Very nice beer and great on a hot summer day. mabel (1583), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 [1306-20080418] 1pt6floz bottle. Fruity navel orange juice hops aroma with fresh light malty earth. Hazy, light orange red body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Juicy fresh navel orange flavour is nicely balanced. Medium body has a bitter background. Very nice, yummy hops. Love the label too: a troll in a sailor suit in front of a princess getting impaled by a unicorn in front of a castle on fire.
(w/ blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, tupalev) cherr (162), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 4, 2008 Totally awesome beer. I got in a bottle from Kahn’s fine wines in INdianapolis, IN. Smell is of amarillo hops. The pour is nice and thick. The taste is angled towards the hops with some nice crisp malt. One of their best. To me, this is easier to drink than alpha king as it doesn’t have the hop harshness from the chinook. bgburdman9 (721), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 28, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma wash of straight hops. Seemed like every kind possible. Citrus, pine, earthiness, spice. Flavor was pretty hoppy and very very bitter. I wish this was year round and i cant believe its only 5.5 %. The aggressive hops could easily make like place this at 8 or 9%. IMtheOptimator (1113), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jun 11, 2008 My 100th IPA!
Thanks go to sprinkle for this brew. Poured a cloudy bright amber with a creamy/frothy off-white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of bitter pine and lemony citrus, very refreshing and very typical of FFF. Flavor follows with lots of bitter pine and grapefruit rind hops, just a touch of sweetness, finishing dry and quite refreshing. Mouthfeel is a tad light. Has the hop and flavor profile of a bigger beer but feels rather on the light side, making it sort of floating in a stylistic quagmire between IPA and APA. Very pleasant with excellent hop flavor though a few shades shy of mind-blowing.
