UPDATED: MAR 23, 2014 Bottle. Holy hell this is bad. Listen, I’m all for brewer experimentation, I really am. Even when the final product doesn’t end up tasting very good. But sometimes I feel like brewers have to step back and ask if what they’re planning is actually a good idea. Gumballhead with peaches? Sure, sounds great. In Cognac barrels? What? Why? Why would you do that? I could see something like this aging in a more neutral barrel, like white wine, perhaps. But Cognac? Fuck that, that’s just not a good idea. Unsurprisingly, shitty cognac dominated here. There was some faint fruitiness, and harsh boozy notes as well. Just an unpleasant experience all around. If you have a bottle of this, please, for the love of god, share it with others; no human being should feel like they have to choke down 22 oz of this crap.

Bottle at Max’s tasting. Thrust upon us unmercifully by James. Pours a hazed amber brown with a medium sized white head. It looks good. That’s where the fun ends. Smells of cognac and vanilla initially, then starts to go a bit wonky. Then it starts to smell like spackling compound. Then rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover. Then a touch of vomit. How did that happen? “The more you breathe it in, the worse it gets” - Tom. Medium-bodied, weird funk, acetone, vomit. Ugly. Caramel, spicy and then strange vomit notes on the finish. Not as bad as I was expecting, but certainly not good.

Bottle courtesy of Clockwork at max’s. Pours an amber body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is pretty interesting and all over the place - mix of sour fruit, booze and oak barrel at first, followed by acetone, vinegar and chemical cleaner. Mouthfeel is medium and actually not as terrible as expected. Still, this is a complete mess of a beer and probably should not have been released, though I’d love to try just Gumballhead brewed with peaches.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2013 Bottle I brought to tasting at Max’s. Pours cloudy yellow gold with white head. Nose starts off cognac/alcohol soaked cream peach, milk sugar and banana and then after ten or so whiffs turns into spackle and wet paint. Taste is more or less the same sans paint. Some light nail polish. Not good. Not as horrendous as I expected. Somewhat disappointed that it wasn’t more disappointing. Body is lighter side of medium. Soft carbonation.

Bottle. Hazy brown pour with beige head. Cognac and caramel aromas battle with nail polish for aroma, bad, then good etc. Almost too thin, some cognac but not much else, bad, but not horrendous.

750 ml. bottle. Thanks to Al. Glad we traded! Pours a hazy golden orange with a decent biege head. Strong aroma of I don’t know what. Taste is medicinal at best. Maybe some peach and cognac in there somewhere, very hard to describe. The nail polish descriptions are the closest.

Bottle shared by Adam. Thanks... Pours a hazed orange with a thin head that falls fast. Nose is god awful. Apples & maple syrup. Hot mess. Nose is rough. Nail polish dominates garbage here. Maple syrup. Way in the background a hint of peach. On tasting, more than a sip is tough. maple and peach, faint tartness. Sharp and cheap cognac. Absolutely awful.

Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours a near clear gold with a slight amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of acetone and a bit of tart peaches. Aroma has acetone upfront with backing notes of graham cracker and light tart peach.

Bottle 401/449. This was about 4th in a series of limited barrel aged beers from floyds. The previous (and subsequent) were all $35 this one was $20. So i should have been suspicious. Poured a golden orange. The aroma is horrible. Really smells like nail polish remover, but stronger and more offensive. The taste was almost as bad. There was a hint of rotten peaches deep in there but covered by the astringent. More like a spirit than a beer. Although better than sipping on vodka. Took 2 days and 8 people to finish. By far the worst beer ive ever consumed.
