[ As Three Floyds Cognac Barrel Aged Dark Lord De Muerte ].
[ Red Wax - Bottle 236/817 ]. Clear dark black brown color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt, alcohol, cognac, mild smoke - chili fruity - earthy. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration, sharp, alcohol, cognac, chili warm, dark malt, chocolate - roasted, finish is hot chili. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish is light alcoholi and hot chili. For me way to hot chili and unbalanced... [20160820]

Bottled at TNOD(U)RBSG2016. Black, minimal head. Mild smokey chili and milk chocolate up front. Very sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Vanilla, chocolate and interesting ancho chili heat. Bell pepper, sugar, chili, vanilla and licorice. Severe chili burn in the finish. Chili and alcoholic beverages usually mix badly. Still this beer has lots of upsides. The chili combination is exquisite. Wish I had it in my snack, not in my beer.

THE stout tasting Pt1. Big thanks to Jack for the hatrick of Dark Lords. Who needs Demba Ba when Jack scores like this? Opaque dark brown - black beer. Short lived bubbly dark tan head. Green vegetal nose! Soft and frothy viscous palate. Sweet dark malts with dark chocolate and cream. Big green chilli attack - spice and blooming warmth that gives an itch on the back of the throat. An experience but I think the chilli is overdone, it dominates way too much.

Bottle at The Stout Tasting Part I, London - many thanks to Jack. Pours black-brown with a beige cream head. Big green chili nose, dark malts, some dark chocolate. Really spicy flavor with more fresh, green chili pepper and background dark chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot finish, mostly chili heat rather than alcohol burn (although it’s tough to sort out) with more dark malt sweetness, chili-laced chocolate. The spiciness totally cuts through the sweetness. Good, but hot.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Black without head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, wood and cognac. Flavor is extremely sweet and rather bitter. Extremely sweet finish with heavy alcohol and a devastating chili burn. No thanks. 200816

12/8/7/8/11/8
