4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Hair6a11 (1163) - Illinois, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a one finger khaki head in this glass; it retains on the average side, with some spotting present. This brew has a fantastic nose ; cognac heavy initial, some earth, ash, tobacco, vanilla, chocolate, and dark fruits here. The flavor profile; the only downside is that its probably too sweet. Cognac, caramel and chocolate morsels, booze, some bittering hops, sweet bread, and some dark fruit present. Very pleasing experience

Sample @ CBC’13.
Pours dark red, almost black color with a minimal head. Aroma of cognac, roasted malts, mild vanilla notes, chocolate and tar. Flavor of tar, syrup, caramel, some brown sugar and chocolate, mild roasted malts too. A bit too sweet for me.

Bottle 338/564. Pours with a black hued body and a lasting tan head. Aromas are huge: boozy, fruity and vinous. Lots of alcohol, lots of brandy/congac. Chewy, dates and chocolate. Flavors are fusel but somewhat easy to overlook with chewy chocolate and vinous dark fruits. Dates, raisins, alcohol and barrel. Big and thick body, medium low carbonation. Very warming.

Smell of acetone and cleaning products, flavor is better, a mix of tartness, caramel, vinous fruit, and cocoa.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 brystmar (517) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Cognac barrels bring layers of complexity to the base. Dark fruits, brandy sweetness, more booze, bready. Finishes mildly sweet with alcoholic warmth. I really like this brew.

Bottle shared with Steve, in addition to Westy XII - the guy is very generous. Pours dark black with medium tan head. Nose is cognac, roast, brown sugar. Taste is maybe the most disappointing part - somewhat simple molasses, cognac, oak. Sticky, full mouthfeel.

almost black but still brown;
scent is all cognac, taste is .. NOW WE4RE TALKING ! light in alcohol ( tastewise, this should logicaly be 10 percent? )
drinkable, typical stoutish taste ( not oversweetened as dark lord is )
cognac, soft carbo, the sweetness in this ones not clearly sugar, this is more complex, balanced, .. than i expected it to be ! a very nice one indeed !
