Again, Huge thanks to phaleslu for sharing! Tasted 7/8/11. 22oz bomber. Bottle #282/392. Pours pitch black with a trace ring of head. More of a creamy and earthy aroma than the Pappy version. Almost milky? Full bodied with a more apparent fruity nuance. Nice and sweet with a decent burn. There’s a lot of dark berry flavors to go with the sugary sweetness of the residual brandy. Sticky, cloying and very viscous. Very well blended.

Bottle, sampled at Surly's Darkness Day eve. Wow, this is incredible. Very sweet, very smooth with soft carbonation. Lots of brandy character, fruity, cherry notes. Absolutely phenomenal.

Bottle shared at the Moeder Lambic cellar tasting 2015. shared by kermis! thanks yet again! 2011 bottle 149/392. poured a dark black colour leaving a nice small tanned ring on top of the beer. the nose is coming as closest to the base beer of all the 4 barrel aged version we’ve had. adding some fruity apple brandy to it. some vineous dark fruits aswell, burned caramel, raisins, and some of that soy sauce feeling you can get from the base beer. some sweet chocolate fudge is followed in the taste, with some sweet sticky chocolate, burned caramel, leather, and a but of charred ash aswell. candy fruit apples, and fainted roasted notes. this was completly different compared to the one with some vanilla beans. mouthfeel is pretty chewy and ful bodied. thanks again kermis for this opportunity

Courtesy of Brandon Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy chocolate, molasses, dark fruits/grape, alcohol, and a touch of coffee. It?s a dark brown with a minimal tan head that is really just a very fine ring. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy molasses, chocolate, and sweet dark fruits. The finish has brandy, sweet apple, faint roasted malt, and a hint of coffee. It?s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Overall, the sweetness wears on me a little.

Bottle @ RBSG 2015 (huge thanks to Douglas88!!!)... Jet black pour with a thin head. Noticeable spirit and wood on the nose. Dark fruits, brandy spirits, and sweetness. Like an eaux- de-vie mixed with a DL. In a nutshell it’s tasted like cake-like, baked goods soaked in Brandy.

Bottle shared by Douglas at RBSG. Thanks! A: Oily black boy, legs, thin cappuccino head. N: Fusel alcohol, cocoa, vanilla, brandy, cherry, fig, raisin, fsoy sauce. T: Cavity causing sweetness - so cloying. M: Oily body, alcohol is present in spades, light carbonation. O: Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord is a pleasing experience - this is still a hot mess. I wonder if it needs to get aged out, but yeah, no thanks.

9000th rating. Thanks to douglas88 for opening at RBSG ’15. 750mL bottle, pours black with a reddish tinge and a tiny head. Aroma brings out big brandy barrel notes, along with dark fruits and sweet liqueur. Flavour is very sweet, with sweet brandy barrels, booze, and dark fruits. Super complex but a tad cloying and boozy. Wonderful one to try, but it’s a 1 oz. sipper type of beer. Good and very fun to try.
