Bottle shared with a bunch of folks. Had Dark Lord bourbon barrel the same day and it just wasn't up to par. Still better than most beer out there. Got hints of the port flavor on the backend. Never drink too many good beers all in one day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 750ml.

[ As Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout (Port Barrel Aged) ].
Clear dark black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, port, twany, wood, alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration, port - tawny, chocolate, sweet malt. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat finish feel is moderate alcoholic. Very nice and quit easy to drink even as my first drink off the day in the sun :D [20140501]

Very sweet but not really. Not the typical way I think of sweetness in a beer. Not sugary.Malt, a little alcohol, port, rich, dark fruit. Super sweet tasting however. Very heavy and sweet. dark fruit

Bottle # 457. Been sitting for a little over a year now. Happy birthday to me. Pours deep black. Small partly lasting brown head. Aroma large and decadent. Port, rich dark fruit, sweet but not exactly sugary, some soy sauce but not nearly as much as the year old ’13 Dark Lord we had the other night, a hint of smooth alcohol (port). Perhaps chocolate in the shadows, but this showcases the port and dark fruit. Full body. Luscious. Soft. Smooth. Slick and sticky. Hints of woodiness and spiciness. For everything I said about the aroma I could say about the flavor. The port barrel treatment perfectly compliments this beer. Again, to compare this to the year old ’13 dark lord we had the other night, the ’gaps’ and pot holes that opened up with the age were perfectly filled in by the port barrel. Alcohol is virtually non existent, even at 15%!. Great drinkability. I was afraid this would let me down but it totally exceeded my expectations. If this beer came from another brewery, people would be knocking each other over for it. Enjoyed to the last drop.

Bomber bottle shared at mikkeller viktoria the day before CBC. Midnight black with tan head. Aroma massive and super sweet, molasses, dried fruit, barrel, wood, port and roasted malt. Taste has raisins, sugar, molasses, port, wood, chocolate and alcohol. Very sweet and smooth with well hidden alcohol.

Bottle... Hazy dark-brown pour with a small, fragile, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma and flavor are reminiscent of a sweet tawny or crusted port with a mild chocolate component and faint acidity. Full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and trace carbonation. Deeply sweet aftertaste. Well, an under-attenuated, sweet base beer aged in a barrel that once held a sweet fortified wine = really fucking sweet result. Downright cloying – and my favorite style of beer is Scotch ale. Overall, not a flawed beer. Especially if they were aiming for SWEET in 2013’s version of Dark Lord. There’s no way I could drink a whole bottle of this by myself - something I’ve gladly done every year since 2004.

Mikkeller Vik. Three Floyds tap takeover. Bottle share with Ronnie (Rlgk), Jan (Fonefan), Rene (Benzai) and the Swedish drinking team (Anders37, Lars, Lenhard and Bjorn). Holy....10.30am Dark Lord Batman! Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Amazing Port Wine fruity nose. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly light dark malts, mild chocolate and malt cream. Lovely Port Wine liqueur and red berry fruits. Touches of wood and spice. Comes together so very well in to a smooth finish. No heat and stupidly drinkable. Sweet but not as many Dark Lords. Always thought this would be a belter and was not disappointed. Superb.

Bra start dagen före CBC 14. På Mikkeller bar Viktoriagade. 1000 DK inte direkt gratis. Solen steker. Torkad frukt och godis i doft. Aningen vinös. Söt och krämig. Bra balans men ett glas räcker gott och väl. Viss syrlighet som ligger och lurar under sötman. Kolsvart. Låg alkohol. Ingen strävhet eller kärvhet.
