Poured deep black as hell, small tan head. Aroma of cherries, plum, roasted barley and raisins, liquerice, leather and caramel. Dense aroma, dense flavor. Liquerice, cherries, liquer, roasted grains and sweet caramel. Brutal hatd character, no choise, reallyreally good!

Draught @ Mikkeller, Viktoriagade. Pours near black with a frothy light brown tiny head. Aroma is brown sugar, molasses, roasted malt, sweet licorice, raisin, burnt malt, vanilla, soft coffee and dark fruit. Taste is heavy sweet and near medium bitter. Body is medium+, texture is thick and syrupy, carbonation is soft. Finishes sweet with molasses and roasted bitter malt and and alcohol.

2010 bottle with a big thanks to stfun. Pours a deep brown to black with practically no head. Aroma is definitely sky sauce and chocolate. There is some alcohol in the aroma. The taste has lost its coffee. Unfortunately this is my first experience with DL. Sweet and malty with a slight alcohol heat. Consistency of motor oil. I can't wait to try a fresh one.

Bottle 2010 thanks to artmcd8 via StFun. Poured black with minor head. Aroma of soy sauce, slightly fruity and stings the nostrils. Extremely smooth slightly smoky taste.

Absolutely no sign of any head. Aroma is sweet, unripe banana, dark sugar, caramel, some licorice and cocoa. Taste is just sweet, sweet, sweet! Unlimited amounts of dark sugar, unripe banana, caramel, ash, some coffee and chocolate. Medium bitterness. If I was to open a fresh bottle of this one by myself, 95% of the bottle would go straight in the toilet. This one needs many years in the cellar, at least. And even then I don’t think it will end up as nothing more than a middle range beer.

2012 vintage. I had a lot of plum wine taste in my bottle. Personally not sure what all of the hype is about.

I was on an other planet for a short while ... so I was lucky to do a vertical ´04 - ´12 .. with some amazing friends javit, Forgetfu, gEUS, amongst others nice people in Brussels in the basement under Moeder Lambic Fontainas .... the best beer experience I have had until now! ... My favorite is ´10 ... so imo the dark lord should not be more than 2 -3 years old... This was one fantastic experience!!

2011- Pours a dark black with a nice tan head. nose is of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. As for taste its a nice roasted bitter coffee and molasses. I do get a bit of a port wine taste in the aftertaste. No alchohol whats so ever on this. Good but definetlly not my favorite RIS.

On tap at CBC. Black colour with small beige head. Dark fruits aroma, also wood and roasted malts and coffee. Sweet taste, dark fruits Full body. Well hidden alcohol.
