craftycarl21 (513), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jun 30, 2009 Pours a dark copper with a very small head. Aroma is extremely citrusy, with lots of orange, lemon, and even some peach, which mixes with a sweet caramel malt. Flavor is immensely complex, with tons of citrus ideas, along with pine and floral notes. Absolute hop bomb, and I love every minute of it. Palate is sticky sweet and resinous; intense, perfect. Great brew. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jun 29, 2009 Bomber from bulldogp04. Thanks for this great beer Dean. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small white head. Strong citric aromas. Really thick body with mild, near creamy, carbonation. Flavor is really floral/citrus over roasted caramel. It’s very hoppy, but the caramel is detectable. Goes down very smooth. Leaves a bitter burn behind. Incredibly good beer. Good reason to live in Munster. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Jun 25, 2009 22oz bottle from Ryan. Pours with a thick white head. Burnt Yellow color with a big peach/tangerine nose. Flavor is nicely bittered and very hoppy. Some malt backbone but its lacking the strong hop flavor or strong malt flavor. Very good and very well made but not as amazing as its ratings indicate. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bottle courtesy of rustychiles. Pours looking like Bud at first. In the glass definitely something more. A deeper amber with a decent sized pillowy white head. Aroma is deeply complex American hops - lots of citrus, grapefruit, candy malt sweetness, Hops come across spicier than expected - some Chinook and Amarillo in the flavoring perhaps. This is a half-decent DIPA. Too much residual sweetness and too much bittering vs. flavoring/aroma/dry hops. Not sure how fresh this is. Probably would have been better fresh with the hops balancing out the sweetness.
rustychiles (1006), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Tytoanderso thanks tyler. Pours a yellow orange with a nice white head. Aroma is citrus, malt, hops, coriander, pineapple, peach, grapefruit . Flavor is citrusy grapefruit hops, mango, pineapple, with a bitter malt backbone and a bitter oily citrusy hop finish. Good Stuff. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jun 18, 2009 22oz bottle. Honey-orange color with a medium white head that sticks to glass. Very nice aroma that is a showcase of fruity citrus like orange, grapefruit, and tangerine. all enhanced by a sweet maltiness. The flavor has tons of juicy hops that burst with grapefruit and tangerine. There is a big malt body that is on the sweet side, but a massive bitterness perfectly balances it. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Malty, but in a way that enhances the hops instead of takes away from them. I was worried that I might not get a fresh bottle, but this seems pretty spot on as to what I was expecting. Maybe not the freshest, but hardly worse for wear. For how much hop goodness this exudes, the balance is spot on. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Jun 14, 2009 Beautiful aroma of peach, orange, other citrus fruits, a nice citrus hop aroma, caramel malts underneath. The appearance is true to the IIPA style, orange, relatively clear, thin white head. The flavor is excellent as well. Like the aroma in the sense that there is a strong fruitiness, citrus, caramel, the hoppiness almost takes a backseat. This is a little surprising. The citrus hops (the one type of hops I pick up here) definitely linger nicely on the palate. Like the sensation of eating a grapefruit. Medium thick mouthfeel, a little slick, light carbonation. I expected a thicker feel, to be honest. This is one beer that will always have a hard time living up to its rep, but is definitely an excellently crafted beer. bobbypaulson (100), , Minnesota, USA Jun 11, 2009 Just stopped by three Floyds about 3 weeks ago driving to Minnesota and had the chance to buy this beer. Just cracked open bottle of it and was over joyed with the smell that came out of the bottle before I even poured it out. The citrus hopy flavor made me overjoyed. Poured it out and the golden orange color filled the glass with a nice white head. Once the aroma had a chance to breathe it was like a pine forest in my kitchen hop heaven. The taste is great nice and citrusy with of course a hop bit it’s perfectly balanced with so malt and not too crazy bitter. Great beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
