COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy bright golden yellow with thick head that slowly dissipates to lacing. Aroma is pine, full dominating hop bitterness, residual sugary sweetness, and lemon citrus. Flavor is full and bold: Huge hop presence with pine, citrus, and a balance to hide the 10% ABV. Having had this several times, it’s always a treat, and words really don’t do this beer justice. From notes 11/11/12.

Thanks to schlitzfaced for this beauty. That’s what brothers are for! pours medium orange with a thick sticy foam. I can easily detect the mango and pear aromas, but there is some caramel poking through. Excellent body. Bitterness cuts through tropical fruit flavors. I can taste just a mild amount of toasted malt too. Finish is dry with plenty of hops left over.

Pours a rusty orange with floating sediment. Aroma is the strongest I’ve ever had with mango and citrus hops. Taste starts with caramel but has citrus hops. Aftertaste is bitter, but has hints caramel.

Woohoo, found the notes on this. I’m super glad. I got this in a trade about two years ago. I poured half of this into a tulip and about the other half into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking hazy to almost transparent looking golden orange to brown with a decent looking sediment rolling around and within the carbonation. The head is fairly a white to an off-white sort of fluffiness filling the top of the glass evenly and ends up leaving a decent sort of white foamy lacing all around the glass. The smell was an authentic sort of citrus hops to somewhat a nice caramel maltiness that doesn’t leave anything to be desired. It does what it needs to do. The taste was a pure bittersweet and does what it should to please the tastebuds in a very nice showing of citrus to caramel-ness coating them. There is a slight aftertaste of bittersweetness, but isn’t overbearing. There is a quick dry finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium with a sipper sort of sessionability to it. The carbonation is quite fulfilling and nice. Overall, I say this was a great DIPA, well worthy of having again.

Tap. Ahh yeah. Crisp gold-amber. Lacing. Mild floral nose. Hops balance with ABV to give a boozey, floral masterpiece.

Tap sample at CBC 2014. Pours a clear deep golden body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is peaches, apricot, rose water, alcohol, parsley, mild caramel, hints of mint, pine and red fruits. Taste is smooth caramel and pine tones, red fruits, peaches, apricot, herbs and hints of spruce and grass. Smooth, full body, medium to high carbonation. Highly fruit and smooth operating DIPA from 3F.
