mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Dec 6, 2008 bottle thanks to ilovedarkbeer. amber pour with a white head that dissipates fast. great fresh hop scent with some pine . nice hop flavor that is balanced greatly with some malts. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 5, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy deep amber with a minimal head. Aroma is very crisp and all citrusy grapefruit hop. Flavor is also very crisp with a ton of citrus hop and a nice malt balance. Truly one of the best of the IIPA style. bassbuckeye (81), Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2008 Thick amper opeque poor small head. Pine and citrus to the nose. This is a balanced double IPA very nice sweet with bitter hop finish. Has a grapefruit taste to it as well. I like it but its not my fav double believe it or not. teamrassas (26), USA Nov 29, 2008 Super nose of pine chased by sweet citrus. Hazy amber. Definate malted nut taste nut covered up by the hops. This is such a good IPA DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 28, 2008 (10/16/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia. Slightly hazy amber color with a medium beige head. Aroma full of hops, citrus, some piney notes and some balancing caramel and biscuits. Sweet flavor with quite a bit of malt, caramel, some biscuit notes, a bit of honey and some nutty notes. Continues bitter and hoppy with nice grapefruit and lemon notes but the malty background is always apparent. Medium to full-bodied. Very good and quite balanced. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Nov 27, 2008 fine balance is what first strikes me about this fine brew. then a refined and subtle straw and malt backbone that supports a strong yet mellow hop character that for my money holds absolutely zero harshness within it. fruity yet hardly sweet it still seems a bit syrupy but in fact it is more a hearty body and an interesting fruit character that you experience. alcohol is well hidden here. this offering is an education in fine alemaking. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2008 As soon as the beer is poured, aromas of citrus and piney hops come out and flood your senses. The smell reminds me of a walk through a pine stand on a rainy spring day. Grapefruit and orange come forward on the nose as well. The taste is huge, first it hits you with hoppy grapefruit, with a nice dry finish. The beer is also balanced a bit with some nice malt flavors like a bit of chocolate and caramel. noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009The citric hops come at me as soon as I pop the cap. Sniffing is hardly even necessary. Pours a light hazy gold with a moderate white head. Taste is an essence of grapefruity hops. No off flavors or overbrewed warmth for the hops to cover up, this is just what a metric ton of American hops tastes like when it doesn’t have to compensate for anything. More DAPA than DIPA, if there were such a category.
